๐ with amazing friends, great art, and new upgrades for my project Genesis ๐ฅ
I had an amazing time and can't wait to Burn again!!!! I've missed it so much. I haven't been to a regional in many, meant years!!! Wow. So happy.
We camped with Midnight Art Club and they were the best. I love meeting new people and they were literally the COOLEST.

LIFE, MAN. What a wild ride.
Life is beautiful, unique, and... painful, isnโt it? I fully admit I have no idea what Iโm doing even now, and Iโm not going to lie about it lol. None of us really do.
โHealingโ is one of the craziest journeys out there. Itโs not a cut and dry process.. and it SUUUUCKS, honestly. It usually doesn't even feel like healing it just hurts - it's hard and painful.
Growth is often random and can feel the same way. Growing up means facing the loss of old dreams, the breaking of illusions, and realizing most of life may very likely continue to be incredibly painful. You know what? It is what it is. There are so many moments of beauty, too. Sometimes it's easy to forget that.
Right now, Iโm standing at the edge of a big life transition, one that will be both painful AND beautiful. And this woman you see here is going to be different at a soul level.
I've honestly felt strangled for so long, you know? You see your version of Kelly here smiling, and perceive that how you will. I smiled with what joy I had in my heart. But when I look at her all I can see is the pain she's buried.
I am so proud of her.
And I canโt wait to see what this next chapter brings - what this new life will hold for her.
Sometimes, you have to burn down everything you thought you knew - about yourself, about life, about the way the world works. You have to break rules, redefine values, let go of unhealthy patterns that keep you small, and remove yourself from toxic family systems that ruin your self esteem. YUP.
Because hereโs the truth:
You can choose to become the next version of yourself, WITHOUT shaming the old one.
Integrate. Reassess. Explore. PLAY.
And if you need to run away for a while? Run.
Just donโt throw the whole old self away. Accept her. Integrate her. Love her. (Easier said than done, I know.)
There is nothing wrong with you.
You are perfect the way God made you.
You are deeply loved - even when it doesnโt feel like it.
And if life feels too heavy, maybe thatโs just a sign that something needs to go. Try to figure out what it is and let it loose. Burn it with fire. Cut people out. Take care of YOU, boo.

๐ DANCE CONCERT THIS WEEK! ๐ I'll be performing in 2 awesome modern pieces and would love to see you there.
If it's been awhile since you've immersed yourself into art culture - and even if it hasn't - come out to Mesa College's intimate theater and enjoy a night of dance!
Here's something REALLY COOL you probably didn't know....
Not only has each choreographer crafted a dance unique to their own style and flair.... but they have ALSO individually hand picked and CUSTOMIZED the tech, lighting, filters, and transitions on stage for their pieces to truly create โจ works of art. โจ
It will be an EXPERIENCE!

Dance has always been such a huge part of my life and is an outlet that is integral to my soul's expression of healing. I've been dancing since I was little and will dance until the day I DIE! IYKYK. ๐๐ป

Iโll go first!
๐๐ป I like to slow down by laying down on the floor with my feet firmly planted against the ground, my knees bent, and my hands on my belly or heart.
๐๐ป I close my eyes and slowly take many nice, big, deep breaths.
๐๐ป I make sure to pay attention to the feeling of my belly and chest rising under my hands with each breath as my lungs fill with air so I can focus on getting full, big breaths in.
๐๐ป With each exhale, I imagine my body melting against the floor - and it feels like that, too! I can literally feel the tension in my muscles melt and that more surface area of my body is making contact with the floor as the tension releases.
๐๐ป Itโs really helpful for getting me out of my head, into my body, and to calm the whirlwind of thoughts in my head!

Our bodies exist as ๐ฑ๐ข๐ณ๐ต of us.
We are one with our bodies - ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐ฌ๐๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐๐ญ๐ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ.
Too many of the people I have worked with have become so dis-connected from themselves that they have ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐จ๐ญ๐ญ๐๐ง ๐ก๐จ๐ฐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ง๐๐๐ญ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ข๐ซ ๐๐จ๐๐ข๐๐ฌ.
Some to the point of not being able to feel their legs, back, or body.
This is a terrible tragedy.
Our bodies are magnificent, living, breathing, ALIVE.
And they speak to us in very real ways.
But so often - we canโt hear them. ๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐จ๐ฉ๐ง๐๐๐ฉ๐๐.
๐๐ ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฒ.
We are go, go, go-ing.
This is one of our greatest challenges.
We must pause, and we must ๐๐๐๐๐๐.

Our perceptions can be skewed by biases or assumptions because we usually interpret based on our own beliefs, past experiences, and expectations.
These ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ influence the ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ถ๐จ๐ฉ๐ต๐ด that arise, which, in turn, can trigger various emotions.
๐๐ป We need to be mindful of our thought patterns. ๐๐ป
๐๐ ๐ฐ๐ ๐๐จ ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ฉ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ค about ๐๐๐ผ๐ ๐ธ๐ฆ ๐ข๐ณ๐ฆ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ช๐ฏ๐ฌ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ข๐ฃ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ต - our thoughts and emotions can spiral out of control.
This is where we run into trouble.
Negative interpretations or repetitive, self-critical thoughts can intensify distressing emotions, creating a cycle that's difficult to break and can lead to distressing, painful Mind-Body Syndromes.
๐๐ง๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐๐, ๐๐จ ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ฌ:
1. When you begin to notice you're feeling flustered, irritated, or angry - ๐๐๐๐๐
2. ๐ค๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐ฐ๐๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐๐ต๐ผ๐๐ด๐ต๐๐. ๐๐ฉ๐ข๐ต are you thinking about? Is it factually ๐ต๐ณ๐ถ๐ฆ?
3. ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฉ ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐จ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ฌ๐๐ง๐ฌ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ ๐จ๐ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐จ๐๐ฒ: Where do you currently feel this emotion/energy? ๐๐ฉ๐ข๐ต ๐ฅ๐ฐ๐ฆ๐ด ๐ช๐ต ๐ง๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ญ ๐ญ๐ช๐ฌ๐ฆ? See if you can describe it using your words.

Yes. This is a quote I actually say outloud. ๐คฃ I like that it sounds funny AND it's also an important reminder: ๐๐ณ๐ช๐ฏ๐ฌ ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ณ ๐ธ๐ข๐ต๐ฆ๐ณ, ๐ง๐ณ๐ช๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ฅ๐ด.
Here are some straight-up FACTS:

But letโs break that down a bit, because Iโm sure youโve heard that beforeโฆ
Your brain ITSELF is made up of approximately 85% water.
Your muscles and kidneys are approximately 77% water
Your lungs are 85% water

Water is necessary for the healthy functioning of our body systems like:

๐ง Moistening your mucosal membranes such as your eyes, nose, and mouth
๐ง Helping lessen the burden on the kidneys and liver by flushing out waste toxins
๐ง Acting as a shock absorber for the brain, spinal cord, and fetus
๐ง Helping deliver oxygen all over the body

So why is it that most people are severely dehydrated?
Well, sugary drinks, sodas, and too much coffee can deplete your body of its hydration.
Not to mention regular bodily functions, like sweating, breathing, and waste removal.
And, well, to be frank - a lot of ya'll just aren't drinking enough water!

There is a transmutation of energy when we work on something intentionally. This is why the creative process is often a healing process.
When we are able to fully feel the entire breadth of our emotions and allow them to move through us, we can work through them and heal them.

Art making is one of the most tangible ways to do this because you literally get to touch what you are working on and exchange energy with it.
๐๐จ๐ฎ ๐ ๐๐ญ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐จ๐ซ - ๐๐ง๐ ๐ข๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐ฐ๐ก๐๐ญ ๐๐ซ๐๐ช๐ฎ๐๐ง๐๐ข๐๐ฌ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐๐ซ๐ ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐จ๐ง๐๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก. Are you feeling shades of blues, crimsons, or deep dark violets?

When we can formulate how we work with art in this way, we develop a somatic practice. Being able to give words to the things we feel - being able to define them, detail them, describe them much the same way as we would paint details on our images or carve details in our sculptures.
Finding ways to describe the things we feel, give voice to them, and FEEL them with intention - is one of the most profound ways you can honor yourself - body, mind, soul, & heart.
This is especially true when we are feeling pain, be it physically or emotionally. Pain can be incredibly debilitating and yet, it can also bring illumination to things that we find beautiful.

The flexibility of our head, neck, and shoulders can really tell us a whole lot about how we are feeling - both in our bodies and in our lives. Many people tend to carry an overwhelming amount of stress in their neck and shoulders, and often this is the part of our bodies where we feel burdened with too much responsibility.
If you turn your head side to side following your nose, left to right - what do you notice?
Is your range of motion limited?
And what if you lay your ear flat to your shoulder, left and right. What do you notice with this movement?
Do you feel a tug or a pull anywhere?
Most often, when we are "stuck" somewhere in our bodies, we can feel the pull or "tug" of the adhesions all along the areas where the muscles and fascia are stuck together. We sometimes can also feel pain or discomfort somewhere else in our body, what we often call "referral" pain.
Making this body connection for ourselves + building an awareness of our physical sensations is one of the biggest puzzle pieces we can nurture to help ourselves heal. When you can pinpoint, describe, and accurately place what you are FEELING in your body, you can then go about utilizing the vast array of tools available to you to help you work through it.
It may seem difficult at first, but the more you practice your awareness, the stronger your connection will get. Being able to communicate with our bodies in this way is incredibly powerful.
