Coaching and teaching is something I am very passionate about; considering I have been in the digital media industry for now 23 years, I wanted to give back to the community.

I’ve been pondering this idea for a while, so going to give it a test drive and see how it goes. That is, I want to share some helpful tips; wether it is through digital marketing or just business in general. After all, I’ve seen a LOT in the last 23 almost 24 years in this industry, so if it helps, I’ll create more and more.

Of course to start off, I feel as if I need to point this out to help some of you, as well to easily reference when I hear my DM’s going off 🤦🏻‍♂️

But it’s not just a “tip” there also some reasoning and science behind it!

Without further ado..

Pro Tip: Be prepared to sell.

If you going to reach out to someone to offer a product or service, make certain to have case studies, testimonials or a pitch deck on hand.

Spend a few minutes and work your social media profile to fit the “look” of what you are selling.

Stop with the copy/paste from the $19 course you just bought on cold outreach. Come up with your own verbiage and story to pitch.

Do you research on who you are reaching out to and what you are selling.

Lastly, be weary of the prospects time, worth and time-zone.

❔Why?❔

Everyday via FB, LinkedIn and other media outlets I get messages from people offering everything from appointment setters to ad management services.

And everyday I have the same message I open up in my Notes app that I copy and paste, to which I get two different types of responses when I ask for “proof” of what they are offering.

1) I don’t share my clients information with anyone, but trust me I’ve helped hundreds of experts do X, Y and Z.

Or

2) I can get some together and send them to you.

With #2 I rarely hear back, usually it’s just another could outreach ignoring my request.

Automatic move to trash!

One thing we, as experienced players in this industry look for is validation, so wether you are applying for a job or trying to pitch me on your magical 50 leads a week course, I’m going to look at your social profiles to validate you.

Nothing is more frustrating that working with someone who has deliberately lied to you about their experience and now you’re stuck helping them along the journey of their learning curve.

With that, the same goes for the “I’ve personally helped out thousands of experts…” Just stop, you have not. 🤦🏻‍♂️

If you have, then you’d have a better opening cold outreach, some marking collateral and a bio to send to me.

When it comes to social media you have two choices (for most industries, not all so don’t come at me)…

You can be an authority or, you can be a goofball.

When someone DMs me and claims they’re some type of professional who has helped other high level professionals such as myself, and your profile picture is you standing on a motel bed holding a $40 bottle of tequila, I don’t take you seriously.

Do you think I wanted to remove the cute picture I had of me and my dog as my profile image? NO! But I do it to build trust and validation — do the same.

Lastly, don’t ask your prospects to do homework on you. You are not Gary V, Grant Cardone or Elon Musk. You reached out to us, so provide us with your information and bio.

At the end of the day I need to TRUST who it is I am working with. If your cold out reach response is poor, try going back and making some changes.

If you need some help or advice, don’t hesitate to ask. We all didn’t come preprogrammed this way and had to learn ourselves; mostly through trial and error.

Any recommendations for SMS providers in the USA with API integration for bulk sending?

Local number is a MUST. No toll free or short codes.

Was using ClickSend for a while at $0.00779 per SMS with 12x Software. After I parted ways in June with 12x, I negotiated a deal to keep the same rate, but now ClickSend has taken away local number availability and you have to license a $994/mo. short code 😡

No email or notification, ClickSend just stopped allowing messages to go out — so if you’re working with 12x Software, reach out to your rep to make sure you’re updated to their new provider.

Looking to add in SMS automation to customer signup and confirmation, as well notifications of events.

I’d prefer a UI based application with API functionality, I understand Twillio has SMS capabilities but I don’t have bandwidth to develop an API integration right now.
