We use state of the art techniques to study how children acquire language and how adults understand and process language. Dr. Gouvea completed her Ph.D.
We also examine language abilities in children with autism. We are currently conducting two major experiments involving language and youths and are looking for participants for both. Our lab is currently looking for 15-, 18- and 21-month old monolingual Spanish and bilingual (Spanish/English) toddlers to participate in a study on the acquisition of grammar. We are also in need of 4-7 year old mono
lingual and bilingual (Spanish/English) children with Autism or in the ASD to participate in our experiment on vocabulary comprehension. Both experiments merely measure expressive and receptive language. Both are non-invasive and take less than an hour including obtaining consent, a background questionnaire, and data collection. If you are interested in more information please feel free to call us at 305-348-4765, email us at [email protected], or send us a message. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
