Gabriel Artaza, our SEDS R&D Manager, is a perfect example of what dedication and consistency can achieve. Last summer, he earned an internship with Lockheed Martin and this summer, he’s coming back as a Lockheed Martin intern again. That kind of success doesn’t come by chance.
It comes from consistently applying to internships, networking, and showing up to events.

Thank you so much to Lockheed Martin for coming to FIU and speaking with the engineering students. This event was an amazing experience, giving us the opportunity to learn more about career paths while also receiving valuable resume feedback.
It was a great space to ask questions, connect, and gain real-world insights beyond the classroom. Opportunities like this are incredibly helpful in preparing for and securing internships, and they truly help us grow professionally for what’s ahead.

Giving back to the community and surrounding schools is one of our main passions as an organization of engineers ❤️🏫.
Today, the team had the opportunity to talk to some amazing young minds 🧠✨. CDSSEC and FIU Athletics hosted FIU’s first STEAM Day 🎉, where K–8 students from the Doral and Sweetwater educational district had the chance to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics 🔬💻⚙️🎨📐—along with other thought-provoking topics 💡🚀.
A huge shoutout to the students who volunteered with us to make today extra special for the young learners 🙌👏. You all rock!! 🤘🏼
