Key Signatures shouldn't be scary! 👺
Think of them as keys or legend on a map. Once you learn how to use them, they aren't as intimidating.
This doesn't go into the WHY of key signatures, but it does serve in a pinch.

I didn't even bother to check how many times. 😄
I started saying just the word, "wrists," instead of saying the whole phrase, "Keep the wrists off of the piano," because it was just taking too long and eating too much time off the lesson. 🤭
When your child is practicing at home, make sure that he or she is keeping the wrists off of the instrument. It does take a little bit of work, but in the end, the muscle memory will kick in.
Think of it like having good posture:
You will be building a trifecta 🔼
1. preventing a lifetime of injuries,
2. developing good technique, and
3. benefiting from looking good!
☘️ Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
How many times did I remind to keep the wrists straight?
Wrist alignment is EVERYTHING for beginners who are learning piano. 🎹
Bent or collapsed wrists? Recipe for tension, fatigue, and real injuries down the line (think carpal tunnel risks).
From my blog: Keep wrists straight—like a straight line from elbow to fingers. No 'lava wrists' dipping down! 🌋
Demo here 👆: a simple fix that makes practice safer and more enjoyable.

Ever wonder how to 'give' your child musical talent without forcing it? 🤔
It's simpler than you think—my free Parent’s Checklist breaks it down to three things YOU control:
✅ Dedicated time each day
✅ Quiet, inspiring space
✅ Right materials (no fancy stuff needed!)

Once seated right, wrist & elbow position is NEXT to avoid tension or wrist pain (especially important for growing kids!).
From my 'Preparing to Play Piano' guide:
✅ Wrists straight (no bending up/down)
✅ Elbows slightly more than a right angle (open & relaxed)
✅ Shoulders down, no shrugging
Quick before/after demo 👆 See how much smoother it feels?

Let's talk setup so your child doesn't get tired or hurt after 10 minutes!
Common mistake: Sitting too far back or on a high chair/table → hunching, back strain, short practice.
Pro tips from my blog:
✅ Sit on the very edge of the bench (like perching)
✅ Knees slightly below hips for great posture & circulation
✅ Feet flat or on a small step stool if they dangle

One of the most frequent questions I get from parents is: 'Is my child the right age?'
The truth? There isn't a 'magic' number, but there are definitely signs that make the journey smoother and more fun.

I’m curious—how old is your child right now? Drop their age in the comments. 👧🧒
If you’re looking for that true piano experience, you’ll hear two terms tossed around:
Weighted Keys and Touch Response.
✨ Touch Response: Common in many portable keyboards (like some CasioTone models). The keys are light, but they sense how hard you hit them. Play soft, it’s quiet. Play with force, it’s loud. It’s a great start!
🎹 Weighted Keys: This is the gold standard. These keys have actual resistance to mimic the hammers of an acoustic piano. It builds the finger strength and control you need for real expression.
Whether you're looking for your first keyboard or upgrading, look for these features to improve your practice at home! 🎶
Parents in Miami (Pinecrest, Palmetto Bay & beyond) – shopping for your child's first keyboard?
Don't waste money on light, toy-like keys that make learning harder!
✅ Weighted action for real piano feel
✅ 4+ octaves (61+ keys minimum)
✅ Good tone & responsive touch
Watch this quick demo 👆 and avoid the common mistakes most parents make.

What do you currently have at home?
One of the most common questions I get from parents: "Do we really need a full piano to start?"
Did you know that a digital piano is different from a keyboard? 🤯 One mimics the feel and weight of a real piano, which is crucial for building finger strength!
I’m putting together a quick 'Parent’s Guide' on choosing the right instrument for beginners so you don't waste money! Want a copy? DM me with your email, and I'll send it over. 💌
