Just curious: to all of you non divers how did you come across this page?

Juvenile lionfish, about 3-in body length, not including fins. A few minutes later, I found it's buddy. Neither are on the reef anymore. My compromise to killing them: I remove them and put them in a tank so that they cannot harm the reef but they get to live. They are actually extremely docile, slow-moving fish who just happened to have been born in the wrong place.
