PRACTICE FOR THE PERIOD OF CANCER | JUNE 21 - JULY 22

“During the period of Cancer, before falling asleep in their bed, our Gnostic disciples must practice a retrospective exercise of their own life, like someone who is watching a movie from the end to the beginning, or like someone who reads a book from the end to the beginning, from the last to the first page.

The objective of this retrospective exercise of our own life is to self-know, to self-discover ourselves, to recognize our good and evil actions, to study our own lunar ego, to become cognizant of our own subconsciousness.

It is necessary to retrospectively arrive at our birth and remember it. A superior effort will permit the student to connect his birth with the death of his previous physical body. Drowsiness combined with meditation and the retrospective exercise will permit us to remember our present life and the previous one and our other past existences.

The retrospective exercise permits us to become conscious of our own lunar ego, of our own errors. Let us remember that the ego is a bunch of memories, desires, passions, anger, covetousness, lust, pride, laziness, gluttony, self-esteem, resentments, vengeances, etc.

If we want to dissolve the ego, we must first study it. The ego is the root of ignorance and pain.

Only the Being, Atman, is perfect, but he is not born, nor does he die or reincarnate; this is how Krishna said it in the Bhagavad-Gita.

If the student falls asleep during the retrospective exercise, so much the better, because in the internal worlds, he will be able to know himself, remember his entire life and all of his past lives.”

“Behold how necessary self-exploration is, how essential self-exploration is!

As we disintegrate what we must disintegrate (the ingredients of the false personality), a didactic, dialectical transformation will take place, and the result of that, of such transformation, becomes the awakened, lucid consciousness.

When one truly establishes this teaching in one’s mind and in one’s heart, one comprehends the need to sacrifice many things, the need to fight for many things. There is a need to sacrifice a lot, a lot, to achieve the transformation of forces; sacrificing what is most pleasing in the life of a human, of the human being, is essential, truly, when we want to transform ourselves.

What is meant by “transformation”? To become a different creature, a creature that corresponds more to the solar period (that is transformation). But we could not achieve such a transformation if we did not have patience. I repeat again what the Christ said:

“In your patience possess ye your souls.” – Luke 21: 19

The impatient gets stuck and fails forever. I am not saying that you do not go through processes of stagnation, obviously there will be those processes, but if you clothe yourself with patience, you will come out of such states.

We need to go deeper into thinking. What do superficial people look like? Superficial people are like the ponds that are formed on the roads; in those shallow puddles the waters rot and only mud remains.

And the people of deep thought, what would they look like? Profound lakes. Life pulses there, fish live there...

We need to become very profound in order to discover so many things that the false personality has.

The most serious thing is that if one identifies with the false personality, if one lives in it, then one fails, and in the long run, one will have to devolve in time, within the infernal worlds.”

“1. The mind lives reacting against the impacts that come from the exterior world. One must control these reactions of the mind by means of willpower.

2. If one throws a rock into a lake, then one will see crystalline waves extending from the center to the periphery. The waves become the reaction of the water against the rock.

3. If someone insults us, then we feel anger. This anger is a reaction to the words of the insulter.

4. A pornographic image offends our external senses. The mind then reacts as the lake in the given example, with waves of animal passion that extend from the center to the periphery.

5. We must subdue the senses and command the mind with the mighty whip of willpower.

6. Our mind lives reacting against the impacts of the exterior world.

7. The incessant reactions of the mind deliver pleasure and pain to us.

8. Likes and dislikes are nothing more than the result of the reactions of the subjective mind.

9. It is necessary to control these reactions of the subjective mind in order to pass beyond pleasure and pain.

10. We need to become serene, indifferent before praise and vituperation, before triumph and failure.”

“Obviously, there can be no cause without an effect, and no effect without a cause. This is unquestionable, indubitable.

Elimination of the diverse inhuman elements which we carry within would be inconceivable without the radical elimination of the intrinsic causes of our psychological defects.

Obviously, the causal “I’s” are closely related to specific karmic debts.

Only the most profound repentance and corresponding negotiations with the masters of the law can give us the joy of achieving disintegration of all those causal elements, which, in one form or another, can lead us to the final elimination of undesirable elements.”

“Undoubtedly, when someone begins to self-observe, it is an unmistakable sign that they have accepted the tremendous reality of their own psychology.

Clearly, no one would attempt self-observation without having previously found a fundamental reason for doing so.

Obviously, someone who initiates self-observation becomes a very different person from others. This, in fact, indicates the possibility for change.

Unfortunately, people do not want to change; they are content with the state in which they live.

It pains one to see how people are born, grow, reproduce like animals, suffer indescribably and die without ever knowing why.

To change is fundamental but it is impossible if we do not initiate psychological self-observation.

We must start by seeing that our purpose is to acquire self knowledge, since rational humanoids really do not know
themselves.

When one discovers a psychological defect, a great step has actually been taken, because this allows one to study and even
radically eliminate that defect.

Indeed, we could not succeed in counting all of the psychological defects we have within since there are so many, not even if we had a steel palate and a thousand tongues to speak with.

Gravest of all is that we do not know how to measure the dreadful reality of any defect. We always look at it superficially without due attention. We see it as something unimportant.

When we accept the Doctrine of the Many Selves and understand the harsh reality of the seven demons that Jesus the Christ drove from the body of Mary Magdalene, obviously, our way of thinking (with regard to psychological defects) undergoes a fundamental change.

It cannot be asserted emphatically enough that the Doctrine of the Many Selves is 100 percent Tibetan and Gnostic in origin.

It is not at all pleasant to find out that within each person there lives hundreds and thousands of psychological people.

Each psychological defect is a different person existing within us, in the here and now.

The seven demons that the great Master Jesus the Christ threw out of the body of Mary Magdalene are the seven deadly sins:
anger, greed, lust, envy, pride, laziness, and gluttony.

Naturally, each one of these demons leads separately to a legion.

In the Pharaohs’ ancient Egypt, an Initiate had to eliminate the red demons of Seth from his inner nature if he wanted to achieve the awakening of consciousness.

Considering the reality of psychological defects, the aspirant longs for change. He does not want to continue in the state in which he lives with so many people within his psyche. He then begins self-observation.”

“It is not irrelevant to emphatically clarify in this exposition that Gnosticism is a very inner, natural, and profound religious process.

Gnosticism is genuine, in-depth esotericism, developed from instant to instant, with very individual mystical experiences and with its own doctrine and rites.

It is an extraordinary doctrine that fundamentally takes a mythical and, sometimes, a mythological structure.

It is ineffable magical liturgy with vivid illustration for the superlative consciousness of the Being.

Unquestionably, Gnostic knowledge always escapes the analyses of normal subjective rationalism.

The correlative of this knowledge is the infinite togetherness of the person, the Being.

The reason for the Being to be is to be the Being himself. Only the Being can know himself.

In Gnosis, therefore, the Being becomes Self-known.

Undoubtedly, Gnosis in itself is Self-Gnosis; it is the Being evaluating and knowing himself.

The Self-knowledge of the Being is a supra-rational movement that depends on the Being, and that has nothing to do with intellectualism.

The abyss between the Being and the ego is impassable; this is why only the Pneuma, the Spirit, can recognize himself, and the action of recognizing himself is an autonomous act in which the subjective reasoning of the intellectual mammal becomes ineffective, insufficient, and terribly weak.”
