Last month we had an amazing time with our parents joining their little ones for our yearly student led conference. This conference allows for parents to collaborate with their children doing thinking strategies, and allowing the children to show them how their developing in the domains of language, literacy, and communication ,mathematical thinking , social studies , scientific inquiry, physical development and approaches to learning . As an educator it is a very proud moment to see your students shine ✨

Diversity activities teach young children to respect and celebrate the differences in all people. Learning about different cultural aspects offers new experiences for children. Today for art appreciation the children were provided materials to create a Macaw 🦜 parrot which is indigenous to the largest part of the rainforest the (Amazon) this part of the rainforest is located in the country of Brazil 🇧🇷 which is the country we are learning about this month in our unit of inquiry

Today I invited a small group of children with me to dramatic play to start creating our dream city. Before we started building we reflected back to last week when the children expressed what belonged in a city as I made documentation of their responses.
I then provided a large piece of butcher paper for the children to start graphically representing their responses to what should be in a city 🏙️ fast forward to today we used the drawing from the butcher paper as a blueprint to draw inspiration from as the children used boxes 📦 different kinds of tapes, and markers to start bringing the city from their imagination and paper into physical form. There will be a different group of children working in the city daily adding to it until it’s complete.
How to bring awareness to the needs of children
Today I invited a small group of children to join me for conversation engagement about this months unit of inquiry natural phenomenon. I used this learning experience to check for memory retention and the level of understanding acquired during this inquiry 🧐 After the conversation concluded I documented children’s responses on a thinking web concept map
