Oxidative stress is one of the markers of aging, and an underlying cause (or exacerbating component) of many health issues. Heart-based meditation, which incorporates a lot of compassion and non-judgement, has been physiologically (through stress markers, explained on slide 3) to reduce oxidative stress. To more heart and compassion! ♥️🙏

Thank you mooremiami for the opportunity to speak with and her team on this insightful panel for members. What a beautiful place to have a conversation about the importance of truly understanding what a psychedelic journey entails, and to share my own experience with the medicine (for those who don’t already know: my first experience with aya was not magical — far from it; and this is part of why I dedicate a lot of my work to supporting, preparing, and integrating those who are embarking on such personal journeys, medicine or no medicine).

When we continue to show up authentically, we deepen the quality of our relationship with both ourselves and with others. How do we do this? Often, this comes in stillness - in sitting with, and honoring, our own feelings and thoughts. When we do this, we can actually see the true self shine through, and allow that true self to confidently show up in all scenarios.

Getting enough sleep is crucial, but true rest involves much more than just shutting our eyes. Sometimes, true rest means reconnecting with loved ones who recharge our emotional batteries (maybe that looks like making time to call a loved one for 20-30 minutes today), or embracing moments of quiet to lessen sensory overload (maybe that looks like no screens 60-90 minutes before bedtime). It could also involve renewing our spirit through personal beliefs or practices that provide deeper fulfillment (maybe that looks like reading a chapter from a spiritual text daily).

Each form of rest plays a vital role in maintaining our wellbeing and preventing burnout. How are you resting this week?

Change is a journey, not a sprint. Reading “Widen the Window” has been a profound reminder that real transformation takes time, patience, and persistent effort. Elizabeth Stanley’s exploration of stress, trauma, and resilience reminds us that healing isn’t a quick fix —it’s engaging with our deepest selves over the long haul.

I highly recommend this book - while it’s educational, it’s also a guide to living a more integrated life. Whether it’s re-regulating our systems through “bottom-up” approaches or widening our window of tolerance, this book is a toolkit for anyone looking to foster resilience and reconnect with the true self.

I like to consider that the goal when we’re alleviating nervous system dysregulation isn’t to have a “calm” nervous system, but rather a flexible one. A calm nervous system is a temporary state — but a flexible nervous system is all-enduring and constant in its ability to adapt. The first step to enhancing nervous system flexibility is recognizing what a dysregulated nervous system LOOKS and FEELS like. These are a few of the markers that your nervous system is saying, “hey! Pay attention to me!”

It’s the weekend - time to for some R&R! 🛏️ If you have trouble getting to sleep, try this 3-6-9 breathwork technique.

This research-backed method helps regulate your nervous system, reducing stress and promoting relaxation. By inhaling for 3 seconds, holding for 6, and exhaling for 9, you enhance your body’s natural relaxation response. This pattern helps to slow your heart rate and decrease blood pressure, making it a powerful tool for calming your mind and body anytime you need (not just for sleep!)
