Fi****ms Fundamentals β Safety β’ Handling β’ Basics
1. Four Universal Safety Rules
1. Treat every firearm as loaded.
2. Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire.
3. Never point the muzzle at anything you are not willing to destroy.
4. Be sure of your target and whatβs beyond it.
2. Basic Parts & Terminology
β’ Muzzle, barrel, slide (pistol) / bolt (rifle), trigger, safety, magazine, chamber, sights.
β’ Action types: semi-automatic, revolver, pump, bolt.
β’ Ammunition: cartridge = case + primer + powder + bullet.
3. Safe Handling Steps (Unload / Verify)
1. Point in safe direction.
2. Remove magazine (if present).
3. Lock/open action and visually & physically check the chamber.
4. Leave action open when not in use.
4. Storage
β’ Store unloaded, locked, and separate from ammunition.
β’ Use a gun safe, lockbox, or cable lock.
β’ Comply with local laws and keep fi****ms inaccessible to children.
5. Range Rules & Etiquette
β’ Always obey range officer.
β’ Eye & ear protection required.
β’ Keep action open and firearm pointed downrange when not firing.
β’ No horseplay; no alcohol or drugs.
6. Basic Marksmanship
β’ Stance: balanced, slightly forward.
β’ Grip: firm, consistent.
β’ Sight alignment & picture.
β’ Trigger control: smooth, straight-rearward press.
β’ Follow-through: maintain sight picture after the shot.
