“Man is least himself when talks in his own person. Give him a mask and he will tell you the truth.” - Oscar Wilde
As we start to celebrate the month of pride, the quote by Oscar Wilde really resonated with me about how we often are in our personal and professional relationships. Our true selves are hidden by masks of not our own choosing. I know I have spent a lifetime wearing different masks to fit in and being accepted. These masks are even worn for family, friends, and our partners.
In the last few years, I have had to learn to remove these masks and be myself. That has been accepting myself, being honest about my boundaries, and not worrying about making others happy over my own happiness. This has been uncomfortable for me and others in my life at time. In some cases, I have had to redefine relationships and to end others. I have to build the right tools for myself and work at it every day. I still do each day.
As you think about the mask you are wearing, think about taking them off and being yourself. Coaching can help you find that happiness within yourself and confidence to be you in all parts of your life. Reach out to me if you want to learn more.

We are often reminded that vulnerability is a sign of weakness and the easiest way to allow someone to hurt you. We learn this early and keep it with us into adulthood. The result is often the lack of authenticity or establishing a stronger relationship with others.
I know I often fight internally with being vulnerable. I can trace much of it to my career and what I thought was expected of me. Then I can look at my sexuality and want to break all stereotypes. Lastly, I can look at the relationship dynamics created over time.
Although I know all these things, it still takes some work to allow myself to sit with my vulnerability and be seen this way. The fear of being hurt is always a concern. I don’t think you even can get past that feeling. But you can learn to manage those feelings and allow yourself some grace to stumble at times.

For many years, I would not celebrate or acknowledge my accomplishments, moments, or things that were important to me. I was too worried about what others would think or question why these celebrations were important. In other cases, I would wait for others to notice and be hurt and angry when they did not see why these moments were important to me.
Now, I take time to celebrate what matters to me. I do not need to explain or apologize. I no longer get upset when others do not notice or acknowledge them. It is just enough for me to take the time and allow myself these moments.
Do you hold yourself back from celebrating your wins, accomplishments, or things that matter to you? If so, take time today to celebrate you and all that matters to you! If you want to learn more, please get in touch with me here or on my website.

So come find us today at Alegra Plaza or at Grennery Mall from 1-3 PM. Or, look for any Girl Scout selling cookies today and bit a box or two!

I turned 51 and am feeling great! Each year I am grateful for what I have, what I have accomplished, and what more I can do. I try not to focus on the negative and instead learn from it. It is much easier to focus on what’s next than dwell in the past. So, here is to another year and all that is to come!

For 2023, I will continue my journey of self-improvement and challenge myself to be a better version of myself. I made a lot of progress in 2022. I pushed myself to let go of some fears. I have faced some of my anxieties. Let go of some self-doubt. It does not mean I am over those issues entirely. I am just equipped with better tools and knowledge to handle them.
I have started 2023 strong by taking more control. I have let go of some things that have held me back for a while. I let myself be stuck waiting for others to react or change. Now, I am letting go and breaking free of those feelings. I have to move forward and grow. How am I doing it? I am making small changes to my routines, approaches, and expectations.
Are you feeling stuck? Not sure what you want or how to achieve it? Want to make some transitions in your career or relationships? Have some unmet goals that you still want to achieve? Let 2023 be a year focused on you and your growth. If you want to learn more, reach out to me on this platform or my website (www.BrentMuckridge.com).

As we close out 2022, reflect on all the things you have experienced this year. Think about the good and bad times and how each one made you grow. Every experience is a lesson, a growth moment, and an opportunity to improve. Be grateful for all you did in 2022 even if you did not meet all your goals.
As you think about setting your 2023 goals and resolutions, think about what you want to do, be, or accomplish in 2023. Do not let yourself be influenced by social media, friends, or family putting false expectations on you. When you set your goals to meet someone else’s ideas for you, you will ultimately fail. You need to grow and change for you.
For 2023, I am going to focus on continuing my journey of self exploration and being a better version of me, for me. If you want to learn more, reach out to me on this platform or my website (www.BrentMuckridge.com).
