Shared Responsibility Requires Shared Understanding
We often think of shared parental responsibility as something defined in a court order.
But for families raising children with additional needs, it’s something that has to work every day.
Because co-parenting in this context is not just about making decisions.
It directly affects whether a child experiences consistency across two homes.
Whether therapies continue as recommended.
Whether routines are preserved.
Whether support feels stable—or fragmented.
When that alignment is missing, the impact isn’t theoretical.
It shows up quickly, and it is carried by the child.
Florida has taken an important step by recognizing the need for disability-specific parent education.
But there is still more to understand about how shared responsibility functions in practice.
Because for these children, support cannot be divided.
It has to be aligned

Honored to be recognized by The Florida Bar.
This work led to an amendment to Florida Statute §61.21, bringing disability-informed parent education into the law.
Florida is now the first state in the nation to take this step.

Co-Parenting on Father’s Day: Why Dad’s Role Matters More Than Ever
This Father’s Day, we’re honoring the strength, love, and impact of dads raising children with disabilities, especially those navigating co-parenting after divorce.
Research confirms what many of us already know in our hearts: children thrive when fathers are emotionally engaged, consistent, and compassionate. From improved academic performance and emotional stability to long-term success and lower risk of mental health issues, a father’s presence makes a lifelong difference.
But what happens when co-parenting is strained by separation or legal complexities? Too often, children with disabilities suffer the most - not because either parent lacks love, but because they lack the tools.
That’s where we come in.
🌱 The Agility Parent Education & Family Stabilization Course is designed specifically for families co-parenting children with disabilities. Mandated by Florida Family Law (§ 61.21) and approved by the Department of Children and Families, this course helps both parents learn how to stay connected to their child, even while living apart.
