And the final two games of the season... game 1 was a farewell round with all 4 seniors (AJ, Hunter, Jayson, Jude). Game 2 features our 3 sophomores (Ash, Elliott, Trey) and AJ. Game 2 marks the end of Coach Schenewerk's tenure as head coach... but the future is BRIGHT!

We made it! The Mexico High Academic Team is in Atlanta and competing in the 320 team field at the 2026 NAQT HSNCT tournament. We played the afternoon rounds going 2-5, but picking up a win over a nationally ranked team and an Overtime win to end the day!

6 of our 7 players are on the board and all 7 players have not only played but started games.

What a night! We were blown away by the tremendous support from the community! Parents families and friends all came together and had a blast at the 6th annual Trivia Night and raised over $4000 to help send these kids to Nationals. They fed off the energy and enthusiasm and are ready to go make you all proud! And a big congratulations to the McKeown table for another Trivia Night victory!

Lastly, HUGE shoutout to Susan Presley who helped us gather AMAZING items for our Silent Auction that accounted for over $800 of the evening's totals. Shoutouts to Gold Crest Distributing, Barb Green, Joanne Nelson and the Imans for their Silent Auction donations!

Due to many people who wish to support us, but can't make our Trivia Night, we are opening pre-bidding now on two silent auction items for tonight’s MHS Academic Team Trivia Night:

Item #1: Expert Grill 22.5" Charcoal Kettle Grill

Item #2: Two Cardinals Tickets
Friday, May 29 vs. Chicago Cubs — 6:15 PM
Seats are in Big Mac Land/Coca-Cola Unlimited Section, which includes unlimited Coca-Cola products, hot dogs, chicken tenders, fries, and ice cream cups. Tickets also include admission to the postgame Jordan Davis concert.

To place a pre-bid, email Coach Schenewerk at [email protected] with the amount you are willing to pay. I’ll post bid updates on the Mexico High Academic Team page. Final bidding will take place in person, but if your pre-bid is not topped, you win!

You can also still join us tomorrow night. Teams may register at the door, and individual players are welcome for $25. Don’t have a team? We’ll help find you one.

Even if you are not playing, you are welcome to stop by and bid on silent auction items.

Other auction items include puzzles, a kids package, sunscreen/aloe package, cardinal hummingbird feeder, Dagwood’s Jr. gift certificate, homemade quilt, Pioneer Woman bowl set, Quiz Bowl shirts, and an autographed Quiz Bowl plate.

Donations are also welcome. Checks may be made out to Mexico Public Schools with MHS Academic Team in the memo line.

We currently have seven teams registered, but there is room for more! No need to pre-register, though it helps if we know beforehand.

We are opening up bidding on two items. While the silent auction is held tomorrow evening, I'm opening up bidding on these two items NOW. Email Coach Schenewerk at [email protected] what you would be willing to pay...and I'll post updates. Final bids will be in person, but if your bid isn't topped... you're the winner!
