🤓Teachers, Ms. Henderson, Ms. Gurrola, and Ms. Reason, are embracing inquiry and technology with their students. It's not everyday that high school students break out their inner Jackson Po***ck, but these groups have certainly caught the creative bug. These teachers' willingness to try something new and let their students explore opportunities is helping students create fond memories of HS long after the paint is dry.

🤓 8th-grade AVID students at Vanston Middle School had the opportunity to request their own learning topics recently. Students rotated through hands-on stations to master real-world skills they requested, from tying ties and basic sewing to cooking breakfast and practicing first aid and communication skills. This "Practical Skills" day was designed to bridge the gap between the classroom and the real world, empowering students with the confidence and social-emotional tools they need to navigate life beyond middle school.

🤓 Looking at integrating AI into your classroom? Start with what works for any lesson; clearly defined goals and objectives. This will help you decide the best AI tool to use, or determine whether or not AI is really what you are looking for. Having clarity also helps students make the most of what they are given. Next, use and master just a couple of AI tools. Don’t let the newest, shiniest thing distract you from what's working for you and students. Ask for and listen to student feedback on how utilizing the AI tool went to determine what needs to change. AI is new-ish and it might seem scary, but good teaching is still good teaching. Start with what you know and move forward from there.
