Anyone interested in participating ?
"I am a student in the Master of Social Work program at ASU. I am reaching out because I am completing a qualitative research project for my thesis on peer-parents' experiences in the workforce. I understand you manage the stipend program for peer-parents at MCC. I was actually originally going to focus my thesis research specifically on the impacts of the program, but then broadened it to understand the peer-parenting child welfare workforce in the Southwest.
Dr. Judy Krysik is my Thesis Chair and recommended I reach out to you to see if you knew of individuals who have graduated from the program and where they are currently employed. I am recruiting peer-parents working in the child welfare context to participate in an in-depth interview. I will be conducting these interviews over the next two week. I am already in contact with Karin Kline from the Family Involvement Center, but I would love to hear about other programs in Arizona, if they exist."
Thanks so much! Looking forward to hearing from you,
Sam

Extra Credit Opportunity for students...who would be interested in volunteering at the Arizona Summit on Volunteerism & Civic Engagement? The AZ Summit is on December 6th & 7th at ASU West Campus (4701 W Thunderbird Rd, Glendale, AZ 85306). I think it would be a great networking opportunity for your students and there are many workshops that may interest future social workers like "Everyone is a grant writer" among others. Below you will find a link for the volunteer sign up document for your students. To qualify for the waivered fee, they must volunteer for an absolute minimum of 4-hours [may be on a single day or across both]. At this moment in time, we are in significant need of Workshop Room Hosts, which are responsibly for room set-up, introducing presenters, and for potential additional duties that presenters may require. While not volunteering for their selected shifts, we certainly encourage them to enjoy the conference as a participant! We want to ensure this will serve as an educational/network opportunity for them as well as a service engagement. We will be providing instructional information for volunteers soon, I am still awaiting some necessary information to complete the volunteer packets. We ask that they please register for the conference and sign up for as many volunteer shifts as possible by Saturday night [December 1st], so we may know sooner than later what needs still exists.
Dates: December 6th and 7th
Time: 8:00am-5:00pm
1. Sign up for volunteer shifts utilizing the link below. Please remember that first and foremost our main role at the AZ Summit is volunteering. We have been granted free admission under that contingency. However, I want to ensure that this will also serve as a learning/networking opportunity for you as well. Therefore I highly suggest signing up to be a ‘Workshop Host’ for workshops that you are interested in attending. Thus you will be both learning and volunteering at the same time.
