Verra Mobility donated to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island's Catwalk for Kids Fashion Show held at the Crest Hollow Country Club. It was a sight to see with guests starting the evening poolside with a beautiful cocktail reception followed by a tented runway show.
Tristan Massalay-Ellis from our team had an opportunity to connect with Fabiola Turner, BBBSLI’s Chief Program Officer, and Carrie Thorne, Grant Specialist, to talk about strategic partnerships that can bolster workforce development opportunities for students across Long Island.
BBBSLI’s efforts to connect students with adult mentors and provide students with encouragement and support align perfectly with our mission to create safer schools and communities.

May is National Bicycle Safety Month - a time to recognize that safer roads start with all of us.
In 2023, 1,155 bicyclists were killed in crashes involving motor vehicles. Each number represents a life, and a reminder of why safe, attentive driving matters.
At Verra Mobility, we believe safer roads are within reach. When drivers and cyclists respect each other and share the road, we can help create communities where everyone gets where they’re going safely.
Small decisions, like paying extra attention to the road, slowing down, or giving cyclists extra space can make all the difference.

School bus drivers are often the first and last people students see each day, and play a critical role in keeping them safe.
In honor of School Bus Driver Appreciation Day, we’re recognizing the care, consistency, and commitment they bring to their communities. Their impact goes beyond transportation, helping create a sense of safety and trust for students and families.
We’re grateful for the drivers who show up every day to make a difference.
To highlight just a few of these everyday champions, we’re sharing stories from Atlanta Public Schools, where drivers and crossing guards are making a lasting impact in their communities: https://www.verramobility.com/honoring-atlantas-student-safety-champions/

According to the Governors Highway Safety Association, when a person reads a text while driving, his or her eyes are off the road for an average of five seconds. At 55 miles per hour, that is like driving the length of an entire football field while blindfolded.
Data also shows taking your eyes off the road for more than just two seconds doubles your risk of a crash.
This Distracted Driving Awareness Month, commit to safer driving practices and keep you attention on the road to ensure the safety of everyone in your community.

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, a time to recognize how everyday distractions affect roadway safety - especially in school zones where children are at risk. School zones are among the busiest and most complex road environments, where drivers, buses, and students share the same space.
According to a recent survey of parents and caregivers, driver distractions are common, with more than half of respondents reporting they've seen drivers speeding or talking on the phone while navigating a school zone. These moments of distraction can quickly result in tragedy, with the NHTSA reporting 3,275 deaths due to distracted driving-related crashes in 2023.

When we “spring forward,” crash risk rises. Research shows a 6% increase in fatal crashes in the week following Daylight Saving Time, as even one hour of lost sleep can impact reaction time, focus, and decision-making. In 2023 alone, more than 6,300 people died in suspected drowsy driving crashes.
As darker mornings and busy commutes return this weekend, a few simple adjustments can make a big difference. Check out our blog for practical tips to stay alert and help keep our roads safe.
Daylight Saving Time and Driving Dangers: How to Protect Yourself on the Road | Verra Mobility

Verra Mobility is proud to close out Love the Bus Month with Atlanta Public Schools and the City of Atlanta, recognizing the service of school bus drivers and crossing guards, and celebrating the successes of Atlanta's school bus stop-arm and school zone speed programs.
This year marks 10 years of Atlanta Public Schools' school bus stop-arm program, which saw a 64% reduction in citations during the 2023-2024 school year. The school zone program launched in 2023 and saw a 75% decrease in the number of speeders within four months.
We look forward to continuing our work together to ensure students get to and from school safely. See more here: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/WpC5HV1Hxr0
