Polaris Academy

Polaris Academy Empowering, Navigating, and Elevating autistic and neurodiverse students to become their best selves.

Our vision is for Polaris Academy to be a foundational education and life resource upon which children, parents, and the community can build a better future for those with autism and other neurodiversity conditions. We will educate and empower: i) our students to discover and act upon their diverse potential, ii) our parents to engage as trusted partners, iii) our professionals with adaptive tools

to manage and accomplish social, academic, and behavioral goals, and iv) our community on the unique talents, strengths and opportunities our students can contribute socially, professionally, and beyond. Polaris Academy will become more than a school, it will grow to become a living community of students, parents, and professionals working together to craft a culture of unity, belonging, discovery, and self-worth.

✨ Today’s Spark Session was a POP of fun! ✨

We had the sweetest visit from Plaster Pops, owned by one of our very own Polaris moms! Our students got to get creative and decorate their very own plaster pops, adding their own personalities and creativity to each one.

We love our Spark Sessions because they give our students the chance to explore new interests, try something different, and—most importantly—HAVE FUN while learning!

A huge thank you to Plaster Pops for spending the afternoon with us and making today so special! We loved seeing all of our students’ unique creations!

Be sure to check out Plaster Pops for all your birthday party, girls’ night, team bonding, and creative celebration needs! They’re the perfect way to get together, get creative, and make something fun to take home!

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time to come together to recognize the incredible strength of children and families who are facing cancer and to honor those who have fought so bravely.

For our Polaris family, this month holds an especially meaningful place in our hearts. For families who are new to our school, last year we had the incredible privilege of watching one of our own students beat cancer. His strength, determination, and resilience inspired our entire school community.

This year, we are once again standing beside one of our Polaris students who is currently fighting cancer. We are incredibly proud of his bravery and continue to surround him and his family with love, encouragement, and support.

🦥 The Brave Sloth Foundation

Our school community also has a very special connection to The Brave Sloth Foundation, which was started by our very own student, Carter Meek, and his family.

While Carter was fighting his own battle against cancer, he couldn't stop thinking about the other children who were going through the same thing. Carter's favorite animal in the whole world is the sloth, and during his own fight, his stuffed sloths brought him so much comfort and support. He wanted other kids fighting cancer to experience that same feeling of comfort and companionship.

From that idea, The Brave Sloth Foundation was born. Carter created the foundation with a mission to bring comfort to children everywhere who are fighting cancer—one sloth care package at a time. 🦥💛

We are so incredibly proud of Carter and his family for turning such a difficult experience into something that brings hope, comfort, and joy to other children. His compassion reminds us that even in the middle of our own battles, there is always an opportunity to make a difference for someone else.

If you have a moment, we encourage our Polaris families to check out on Instagram to learn more about Carter's mission, help raise awareness for childhood cancer, and learn how you can support the foundation through donations and other opportunities.

Let's help Carter continue spreading comfort, one brave sloth at a time. 🦥

At Polaris, we believe that our school community is a family. When one of our students is hurting, we come together to support them, celebrate their victories, and remind them that they are never fighting alone.

In Mrs Stoffer's fifth-grade class, instead of saying, “1, 2, 3, eyes on me” during transitions, she uses our school motto as a call-and-response.

She says, “Empower, Navigate…” and the students respond, “ELEVATE!” This helps signal that they are transitioning or need to pause and refocus.

One of her students enjoyed the chant so much that he asked his mom if he could record himself saying it near our school entrance.

Here is a sweet example of his school spirit! 🎉

Sometimes the biggest wins at Polaris look like the smallest moments. ⭐

She had covered her whiteboard desk in dry erase marker and, while her teacher taught, she quietly ran her finger through it—making lines, creating patterns, keeping her hands busy.

And she was listening.

She was engaged.

She was learning.

In another environment, the focus might have been on stopping the behavior. Here, we get curious about what the behavior is doing for the student.

Because sometimes busy hands help create a focused mind.

These are the moments that remind us why Polaris Academy was built differently. Not to teach autistic students how to fit into a traditional classroom—but to create classrooms that understand how they learn.

A place where different isn’t disruptive.

It’s understood. 💙⭐

💛 THIS FRIDAY, WE WEAR GOLD. 💛

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and this one hits especially close to home for our Polaris + Starlight family.

Two of our incredible kids, Carter and Ace, are currently on their own cancer journeys and we want them and their families to know just how many people are standing beside them. 🎗️

This Friday, we’re asking our students, staff, and families to WEAR GOLD in honor of Carter, Ace, and every child fighting a battle no child should ever have to fight.

And to kick off the month, Carter’s foundation lovingly put together special bags for our friends. 💛 What a beautiful reminder of the strength, generosity, and community surrounding these kids.

Carter + Ace — we see you. We love you. We’re cheering for you. And we’re with you. ⭐️

🎗️ Wear GOLD this Friday.
💛 For Carter.
💛 For Ace.
💛 For every childhood cancer warrior.
