As Q4 of 2026 begins, it's a time where we can start to think back to the beginning of the year. The goals we may have set for ourselves. And the commitments we may have made. It's even a time where we start to think about the new year that awaits us. And we start to plan.

As the old saying goes, "you reap what you sow." Basically, your future depends on your current actions. So today, when you're thinking back to the beginning of the year. Maybe you didn't reach a goal you set. Or failed at a commitment you made. Maybe your harvest didn't bear the results you expected it to. You can always try again. Resoil. Replant.

Let's look to finish the year strong!!

On Monday during class, one of my students expressed concerns about attending today's Career Fair. Without going into great detail, her concern was that she'd be judged based on the 'type of clothes' she wears, and her overall facial appearance. As I tried to calm her nerves and give her some advice on some possible things to wear, I was quickly made aware that her concerns were way much deeper. In her own words, she says to me..."I like girls." And from there, the conversation went into how she has felt judged many times by others on campus. She talked about the awkward looks she has gotten, even sharing how people talk differently to her. I again tried to calm her nerves, definitely empathizing with her. I even shared with her examples of the many times I've been judged, in so many different ways, by so many people. Although I think I helped her some, I was still very worried about her overall mindset as class ended.

I looked for her today at the Career Fair, but didn't see her. Well, what do you know. I just received a photo from her at the Career Fair. Like the saying goes, if a picture was worth a thousand words. Wow! Her smile! Her glow!!

Now that's the way to end the day!! 😌

Welles Crowther. Some may know and some may not know about him. He was an Equities Trader and a Volunteer Firefighter. Initially, his family wasn't aware of his bravery and sacrifice that day, as he had previously called him Mom to tell her he was okay. He saved 18 people that day. Only to be referred to as the 'the man in the red bandana'. Service beyond measure.
