“This Pride Month, we asked LGBTQ+ young people what Pride looks and feels like to them, in their own words. Their responses highlight an important truth: Pride is more than parades and rainbow decorations; Pride is a symbol of community and a catalyst for hopeful action.

Whether it’s holding the hand of your partner, spending time with friends, being comfortable at home, or expressing your gender boldly in your own ways, Pride is both personal and political.

Pride is important because some LGBTQ+ people still face rejection, isolation, discrimination, and fear because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Pride is important because a young person may be searching for hope, a parent may be learning how to support their child, and someone may be hearing words of acceptance for the very first time.
