It’s OK to not have ventures work out that you try or even to be fired from a job as I was. It’s not the end of the world. Never cut people off or act emotional towards them because of a situation that you think has not gone the right way for you. I became very good friends with someone who fired me and that person ended up supporting me with all kinds of repertoire suggestions When I found my true voice as a Contralto, I had so much support from people because I never blamed anybody for the soprano journey. I had so many people to turn to because I never cut them off, and they all helped me and cheered me on . YOU NEVER KNOW WHO IS GOING TO END UP SUPPORTING YOU AND HELPING YOU SO WHY BURN A BRIDGE? I think I’ve only burned two bridges in my life and that’s because I was treated horribly.Be very wise. Only good can come and if you never try the venture, how will you know if it would’ve worked - you have to try even if it doesn’t work and that’s OK.

For me, it’s all about the technical capacity. One has to have the technical skills in their voice then everything can be filled out and figured out. Every voice wants to sing a certain way that is right, right exactly right for that voice. The same goes for the repertoire. One must possess the technical capacity in their voice in order to be able to really figure it out and that’s what our job is to do and to find. Sometimes that takes a long time and that’s OK. skills

Nasal breathing is the way to go not only in singing but in life. Nasal breathing gives a very long capacity and elasticity to my airflow and allows me to sing very long phrases which my Contralto repertoire requires, especially in that lower middle part of the voice. If you can’t sing long phrases in one breath intake, you are doing something technically incorrectly. I do all kinds of breathing exercises to have this type of airflow capacity and I teach this to my students too. Read the book called BREATH by James Nestor. You will do all you can after reading the book to never mouth breathe again. Sometimes though if the phrase is moving very quickly and the next entrance for you is right upon you then yes of course you have to breathe in through your mouth, but that I call taking in hot air which blows just a hot breath over your throat. keep breathing! . Breathwork is the life of you and your singing! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Contrary to popular belief, support doesn’t come from “singing from your diaphragm.” True vocal support comes from proper 360° breathing and engaging your lower abs as you sing.
When you learn to use your breath this way, you’ll gain more control, consistency, and freedom in your voice.
Try this exercise and let me know how it goes in the comments! 👇

COMMENT if you have bought into one of the biggest singing myth!🎤
You don’t sing from your diaphragm.
True vocal support comes from proper 360° breathing and engaging your lower abs (transverse abdominals). When you learn to support correctly, your voice becomes stronger, freer, and more powerful.
The voice you’ve been dreaming of starts with breath. ✨
