PWOC Book Club is reading this book for the month of November.

Synopsis:

Everyone says beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Sheila's eyes are focused on her dreams. With her sights set on opening the hottest beauty parlor in the city and a $100,000 grant on the line, Sheila doesn't have time for distractions. Especially not from Shi'zad, the persistently charming but aesthetically challenged man who keeps popping up everywhere she goes. Her relationship with Shareef might be circling the drain, but that doesn't mean she's looking for a replacement – least of all someone who looks like a darkroom experiment gone wrong.

But Shi'zad never backed down from a challenge. He's witty, intelligent, ambitious, and determined to show Sheila that sometimes the most beautiful things in life come in unexpected packages. Between his corporate climb and her beauty school hustle, they keep crossing paths, and slowly but surely, Sheila starts noticing things about him that have nothing to do with his face.

"Enraptured by an Ugly N***a" is a humorous and heartfelt romance about looking past the surface and finding beauty in the most unexpected places. Sometimes love isn't about what catches your eye – it's about what captures your heart.

February Book of the Month.

PWOC loves to support the members. President Nickie Rosier wanted to celebrate a member's love for their organization who celebrated their Founder's day this month. She made homemade strawberry cupcakes with a filling made also made from fresh strawberries. Nefertiti Rhonda was so surpised and thankful. It's the little things that show you care.

First meeting of 2020

Hello Nefertitis....as we move into 2020 I want to say thank you all for a great reboot this year. The time we get to share discussion great books and life experiences is priceless. I'm so excited to do even more in the upcoming year.

I've created a personal profile for the book club for the more 'member only' related topics. I sent friend requests to those I could and those who had privacy settings that won't allow random requests, I've sent a message to you via Facebook. Please add that profile. This will be where I create our monthly meeting invites.

To any member that didn't attend a meeting in 2019, I didn't add you to the new profile as it is for active members only. We understand 2019 was busy so if at anytime in 2020 you find the time to return to PWOC, please let me know. We'd love to see you!!!

****BRAG POST ALERT**** But please note the brag is on GOD not us. So, as PWOC prepared to close out 2019, the president and Events Coordinator were planning an annual Christmas dinner/party. That soon turned to planning just an outing when Nefertiti Live Love Laugh (our Events Coordinator) approached the president Nefertiti Nickie Jenkins Rosier with the suggestion that the club sponsor Thanksgiving Dinner for a family in need. After getting in touch with a local elementary school, PWOC received the green light to sponsor 1 family. That small gesture of providing a holiday meal turned out to be so much more. It also happens that the schools in Memphis are out the entire week of Thanksgiving and the president suggested buying snacks for the kids while on break. This is where the BRAG on God comes in. The family selected to receive the meal was not only thankful but expressed it was an answered prayer. The family had recently lost their home to a fire and the mother had no idea what she was going to do for her kids at thanksgiving and holiday break. When our Events Coordinator delivered the food, the mother was in tears. We have pictures of the meeting and the interaction but we are not posting (only picture is of the Events Coordinator offering words of comfort and encouragement). We don't want social media "clout". We only want to inspire others through the works of GOD. See, 13 years ago God placed it on the hearts of the founders to create PWOC. Then GOD led the right people to join and that unity is now doing God's will in the community 1 generous act at a time. The members were so inspired that immediately they began planning to sponsor the family for Christmas by providing dinner and gifts for all. The take away is that God is always blessing us which includes allowing us to be a blessing to others. Read. Understand. Be. Phenomenal.

Nefertitis, we've decided to push the escape room outing until after the new year. Our events coordinator has lined up an opportunity for PWOC to bless a family in need to Thanksgiving.
