🌸 The Amazing Story of CeCe's Fundraiser 🌸
(It’s a long read, but I promise it’s worth it 🙂)
I (Mrs. Jillian) wanted to share the heart behind this fundraiser, and how it became something far bigger and more beautiful than any of us imagined.
A couple of months ago, Alicia came to me asking for ideas. She and her family were trying to find a way to raise enough money for CeCe to attend a special intensive therapy program.
As soon as she shared her situation, I knew our Sycamore View Preschool family, and the greater community around CeCe, would want to surround her with love and support. I told Alicia that we would take this on together, and that we would raise the money for her. Alisha, being the humble, precious human that she is, immediately tried to decline the idea, but we refused to let her say no. Her grateful and humble spirit is one of the many things we love most about her.
She originally estimated that we would need around $4,000, maybe a little less. So, Mrs. Stephanie, a few of our teachers, Alisha and I sat down and brainstormed. That’s how the idea of a Silent Auction and Chili Cook-Off was born.
This was the first larger-scale fundraiser we had ever attempted, so we (Mrs. Stephanie & I) were honestly a little (and by a little, I mean VERY) scared we were in over our heads. We worried that we wouldn’t raise enough, or that the event wouldn’t take off. But we also knew that God is in control and even a little bit of support would be better than none (and that our girl CeCe was worth it no matter what).
What happened next absolutely blew us away.
We were overwhelmed by the kindness poured into this fundraiser. The generosity of donated auction items, the monetary gifts, the number of people who reached out asking what they could do to help. The way this community stepped up was nothing short of incredible.
Because of that generosity, we didn’t just meet our goal…
We far surpassed it.
We raised $11,247.
Not only will CeCe be able to attend the therapy program, her brother, Brooks, will be able to participate as well.
For those who don’t know, Brooks is diagnosed with cerebral palsy and has participated in this therapy before. Their family had been trying to decide whether they should send CeCe or Brooks this time and had ultimately chosen CeCe. But because of how much was raised, both of them will now get to participate of the program!! And even after covering both programs, there will still be funds left over to place into CeCe’s and Brooks’ accounts to help with future therapies, appointments, and ongoing medical expenses. God is SO GOOD!
I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who stepped up to make all of this come to fruition. I may have been the one who committed to this with Alisha, but there is NO WAY it could have happened without every single person who contributed, big or small. The generosity of our Sycamore View Preschool families, all of our staff, friends and family, CeCe’s church, even people who do not know her. But especially Mrs. Stephanie, for her constant dedication, hard work, creativity, and willingness to put up with all my crazy ideas. We are so thankful to every person who donated, cooked, volunteered, shared, prayed, or simply showed up. You made this possible.
Above all, we give thanks to God and His goodness. His hands were in every detail, His love was the foundation beneath every gift, and His faithfulness made the impossible possible. He encouraged us when we were unsure and provided more than we imagined. We know this was His work from beginning to end.
Lastly, I want to honor Alicia. She is an incredible mother; positive, kind, steady, and full of light. She loves fiercely and leads with grace and thankfulness to God. She is a blessing to our school as a teacher, but also to all of us as a friend. We are so grateful to have her in our Sycamore View Preschool family, and so thankful we were able to support her in this way.
What began as a simple hope became a beautiful reminder of God’s love shown through those around us.
We are blessed, humbled, incredibly proud, and most of all SO EXCITED for CeCe and Brooks!!!
