I've getting a fair amount of hits and visits to this page. Haven't taught in nearly two years. But I'm reconsidering doing it if there is strong interest in my doing so. Post on the page if you're motivated to take a strong actor's class from me.

It's the New Year. I've been out of town and am back and ready to begin Winter classes. I was working in three stage plays from mid-summer through December. I'm back and ready to rock.

If you're looking to improve your acting skills, your cold reading skills and your audition skills, I have the background, training and professional experience to help you attain your acting goals.

I teach Improv, Deep Scene Study, Audition Techniques and Skills, Cold Reading Technique, On-Camera Acting, Movement for Actors, and the Business side of acting. I have worked as both an actor and teacher in New York City and Los Angeles. Few here in Memphis have that background.

Master Acting Class is back after a summer break. I've been very busy writing and performing this summer. I'm gearing up for a new session of acting classes that will take us to the Christmas holidays. The class is structured to not only teach inexperienced actors wanting to learn the craft, but to teach veteran actors how to survive in a very tough acting environment.

What that means is I will teach an acting technique based on an amalgam of styles I have learned from such teachers as Uta Hagen, Julie Bovasso, Sandy Meisner, Mira Rostova, Peggy Feury, among others, along with my own personal experience teaching and working as a professional stage, television and film actor in New York City, Los Angeles, New Orleans and Memphis, over a 30 year period.

You will learn tried and true audition and cold reading techniques, study improv, as well as implementing physical and breathing training into your acting. Additionally, at the end of every class students will learn something of the business of acting, how to obtain an agent, how to become a union actor, and how to conduct themselves on a truly professional set, union or non-union.

Memphis and Mid South regional filmmakers, please make note of the shared link below. Deadline for submissions for the Mid South Film Showcase are January 2nd, 2014. All submissions must be film shorts, documentary shorts and/or music videos that have a run time of 22 minutes or less. Thank you.

If we receive too many submissions prior to our original deadline date we will close the submission process. So, get your films in. We are looking for films/videos produced in 2011/2012/2013.

The MSFS in-house staff will choose 20 film shorts and 6 music videos from all submitted entries to be judged by an independent panel of judges. A Black Tie/Red Carpet Awards Ceremony will happen the day after our two allotted screening days.

Master Acting Class with Daniel Martine - every Tuesday at 7:30 PM at Republic Coffee House on Walnut Grove. Three hour class that focuses on how to create characters based on an actor's thorough understanding of a script. I also believe very passionately in strong Improv technique. A well done Improv often leads to surprising discoveries relating to the character you create in an ad hoc manner.

My students are also taught how to properly break down an audition side in order to make the best possible acting choice based on the information available in the side at that time. On a regular basis, I pair off my actors and engage in serious deep scene study of that scene...a great scene rife with conflict and compelling characterization. We'll work it until you understand that scene to the bone,

Classes are $15 per session. You want to become a better actor? Come take a class. It can sometimes be intense, but the industry is a hard place. Kidd Diamond and the Devil will begin casting this weekend. The production goes up February 21st. Stay tuned to Facebook for more details coming today. Kidd Diamond is a musical and will feature an all African-American cast except for one female character. All but two roles are singing roles. It is a "bluesical". Original stage play written by Daniel Martine, original music by Travis Stone, and lyrics by Daniel Martine and Travis Stone.

Actors must come prepared with a short monologue, and if you're a singer please come with two pieces of sheet music for our keyboard player. DO NOT bring CD's or tracks to sing to. Thank you...you can email [email protected] for more info.
