🐯💙 Alumni Spotlight: Milan Zou '16 🎨
Exploring discipline, deconstruction, and the space in between..
💙Q1: When did you realize you wanted to pursue art?
Milan: It wasn’t one moment, but a gradual realization. At Lausanne, I spent hours after school painting in Ms. Manzo’s atelier, fully immersed. Later, while working in fashion after Parsons, I realized I couldn’t access that same focus. That absence made things clear; painting was the only way I felt fully aligned. I returned to it as my career.
💙Q2: How would you describe your work?
Milan: Discipline and deconstruction. My work explores how structures, garments, systems, and expectations shape the body and mind. Through painting, I gradually strip away identity and narrative, creating space between what defines us and what exists beyond it.
💙Q3: What do you hope viewers take away?
Milan: A quiet sense of disruption, where something once fixed begins to loosen. I want viewers to question identity and how much of the “self” is shaped by external structures.
💙Q4: What is your creative process?
Milan: I start with a question, like research. I often begin with fashion sketching, then build the painting slowly in layers until it moves beyond description into something more open and unresolved.
💙Q5: Advice for students pursuing creative careers?
Milan: Passion is essential. Art is about creating, not solving. External validation won’t sustain you; what matters is whether you can return to something internal again and again. If that’s clear, continuing becomes necessary.
This is just a glimpse into Milan’s work and perspective. We wish we had room for the full interview. Everyone at Lausanne is so proud of Milan ’16 and all that she has accomplished. We are continually inspired by her work and would love to welcome her back to campus to share her journey with our Upper School arts students. 💙

🐯💙2026 Lausanne Chair of Ideas 💙🐯
On Monday, March 2, 2026, we welcomed Jonathan Campbell ’99 back to campus as our 2026 Chair of Ideas recipient.
Jonathan spoke with Upper School students about his career journey, from his time at the FCC to his current role at Samsung, sharing insights on internet safety, cybersecurity, and the rapid evolution of AI. He also joined both Cybersecurity and AI Innovation classes, engaging directly with students in conversations about the future they are stepping into.
A proud Lynx since seventh grade, Jonathan encouraged students to be well-rounded and curious, to say yes to opportunities and never limit themselves. From student government and Odyssey of the Mind to theatre and varsity soccer, he embraced the full Lausanne experience. He credits those experiences with building the confidence and adaptability that shaped his path.
Each year, Lausanne awards the Chair of Ideas to an individual whose actions and achievements reflect the core values of our mission. Since its inception in 1994, this prestigious honor has been awarded 27 times, continuing a tradition that began with the Distinguished Speaker Series in the 1960s.
We are proud to celebrate Jonathan and the example he sets for the next generation of Lynx. 💙

💙💛 Ginger Reese Appreciation 💙💛
What began as a simple family decision, continues to be a lifelong commitment to Lausanne. From shaping the English program in the early days of IB to sponsoring classes, traveling with students, and creating moments far beyond the classroom, the memories are endless.
Over the years, people and places changed, but the purpose never did.
Here’s to 31 years of blooming where you’re planted, teaching the students in front of you, and continuing to leave a legacy that will always be part of Lausanne. 💙

✨ Alumni Weekend 2025: What. A. Weekend. ✨
Another Alumni Weekend for the books! From the moment our alumni donned hard hats and reflective vests for a sneak peek inside the new Upper School, to cheering on the Lynx as they crushed St. George’s with a 56–6 homecoming victory. Campus was absolutely buzzing with Forever Lynx pride!
Saturday’s Welcome Back Brunch was a hit, complete with bagels and pastries from (thank you, Josh ’10!), laughter echoing through Alumni Dining Room, and hugs that felt like no time had passed at all. Later that evening, reunion classes celebrated 10, 20, 30, and even 50 incredible years of friendship, memories, and Lausanne love.
To everyone who came home, thank you for making this weekend one to remember.
And if you couldn’t make it this time, just know Louie’s already counting down the days until he sees you again. 💙🐾
