MSCS Optional Schools

Congratulations to Brooke and James, aviation students at East T-Stem Academy, who won a $12,000 scholarship for their primary flight training. These funds will enable Brooke and James to pay for the flight training needed to earn their private pilot’s license. Their accomplishment is even more meaningful because only about 85 scholarships are awarded nationwide.

The Aircraft Owner and Pilot Association (AOPA) recognizes that East High has had a strong aviation program and partnership with AOPA throughout the years. ✈️

Calkins: Linda Sklar ran the MSCS optional programs for 13 superintendents. Yes, 13! That's lucky for us. Linda Sklar was hired to bring middle-class families back to Memphis schools. For roughly 50 years, she did that and more. She built optional programs that inspired hundreds of people to stand in lines.

The optional schools application process has been rescheduled to 10 a.m. on THURSDAY, FEB. 1, 2024.
