🎉 We are honored to be a recipient of funding through the Carnival Memphis Children’s Charity Initiative (CCI)!
Yesterday, Dr. G represented the University of Memphis Institute on Disability (UMID) at the CCI check-signing ceremony. Established in 1999, the Children’s Charity Initiative supports organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life for children throughout the Memphis community.
This year, UMID was proud to receive funding alongside PURE Academy and Memphis Allies. We are grateful to Carnival Memphis and its Grand Krewes for their generosity and commitment to supporting children, youth, and families across our community.
Thank you for investing in programs that create opportunities, foster inclusion, and make a lasting impact in the lives of those we serve.

🎉 TigerLIFE at the Sphinx Queen’s Luncheon 👑🐯
Dr. Chrisan Schiro-Geist along with Dr. Patrick Krolik and a few TigerLIFE students had a wonderful opportunity to attend the Sphinx Queen’s Luncheon, where they enjoyed an afternoon of community, celebration, and meaningful connections. Events like these provide valuable experiences that promote inclusion, engagement, and personal growth while allowing students to connect with others and represent the TigerLIFE program.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this special event possible. We are proud of our students for their participation and for representing TigerLIFE so well!

In April, the University of Memphis Institute on Disability (UMID) hosted a BRIDGE Project consultant meeting and workshop at the University of Memphis. Consultants traveled from different states to collaborate, share ideas, and discuss ways to strengthen the project and meet our goals.
The day ended with dinner and great conversations with our consultants. At the Institute on Disability, research is one of our core pillars, and we are proud to build meaningful projects with our amazing research staff and partners.

🎬✨ TigerLIFE Movie Night Success! ✨🎬
TigerLIFE, along with our RSO Claws For Change, hosted our very first movie night—and it was a huge success!
👏 23 out of 40 TL students attended!
What makes this event more special? 💡
Most of the planning was led by our students—not staff. This is exactly the kind of leadership and engagement we’re excited to continue building for future events!
🙌 Thank you to everyone who came out and made the night so memorable.
If you missed it, we hope to see you at the next one!
