Pearl & Rose Designs Custom lettering and artwork, hand-drawn maps, envelope addressing, handwritten invitations, Scripture canvases, and more! Thank you so much.

Growing up, I spent a lot of time with my dear Grandma, who was an artist. Naturally, she provided me with an endless supply of drawing pads and supplies, and she loved sharing her love and knowledge of calligraphy and lettering styles with me. In her young career days, she had been responsible for decorating the displays and windows at the big stores like Loewenstein's and Bry's in downtown Memphis while the men who normally held those jobs were away at war. Her bookshelves were overflowing with old art textbooks and lettering manuals, and I pored over them endlessly, fascinated with the slight nuances as well as the enormous varieties in all the lettering designs. Whenever I had an artistic project to complete for school, I always knew to take it over to her house to work on, because she would sit right beside me the whole time, chatting with me about anything and everything, sharing stories and laughter, and offering her seasoned artistic insight as I worked. In time I graduated from Ouachita Baptist University with a B.A. in mass communications and a minor in art. However, once I started getting some work experience in public relations and marketing, I realized that I was especially tapped to use my artistic skills again and again. Along the way, I was always surprised that people liked my work as much as they did -- it had always been so second-nature to me, such a natural part of who I was, that I had really never given it much thought, aside from choosing it as my minor (mostly because I just really enjoyed it). Later on I went to Louisville to study Christian education with an emphasis in women's ministry at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. I was three classes from graduating with my M.A. when I delivered identical twin girls nearly 11 weeks early! Of course my days have been full ever since. When my girls were about two years old, in an attempt to bring in some side income while staying home with them, I took some samples of my lettering work up to a stationery store to see about getting some business addressing envelopes. I was thrilled that they loved my lettering styles, and later that afternoon, they called me with my first assignment: a wedding map. I finished that map in November that year, and I have stayed busy with a constant stream of projects and commissions ever since! What an exciting adventure it has been, and what a blessing! My Grandma passed away in February 2013. I miss her so much every day, and I wish she knew about Pearl & Rose Designs. I wish I could take my projects over to her house to work beside her and ask her for her input, but thankfully I feel like she did such a good job over the years of sharing her talents with me that I can almost hear her voice in my head as I work! And most of all, I'm thankful she was able to get to know the real-life Pearl and Rose, my twin daughters. (Pearl and Rose are their middle names!) I hope you enjoy my work here, and if there's something you would like to see that I'm not currently offering, just let me know!

This time it was my daughter Tamsie’s turn to consult me on the design for a month! She was hoping I would start with a basic wrapping paper design, and I just took it from there. Since it wound up looking like a present with a gift tag, I couldn’t help but think of 2 Corinthians 9:7 for this one. And this concludes our annual unveiling of the new calendar art!! If all goes well, the calendars should be in from the printer tomorrow, and orders can start going out right after that! 🥳🎉🙌

Introducing the November design! Sometimes ideas just come together quickly, and this was one of those times. I decided to keep it simple and make it Thanksgiving-adjacent!

October made me think of candy and treats, which made me think of all things sweet, which made me think of Psalm 119:103! I pulled out the black sketchpad (the same one that supplied the paper for December 2026), along with all my favorite gel pens, and this was the end result! I truly enjoy the design process for these pages.

Sometimes I just pick some colors that look pretty together and then play around with them until I come up with something I like! This was originally going to be an abstract background, but then I couldn’t resist turning it into a sunset. I also liked the look of the white lettering on top of it. As for this verse, I’m pretty sure I picked it because it’s the favorite verse of a dear friend who has a September birthday!

This year, my daughter Evie requested that I include sunflowers on a design for one of the months… so this was my inspiration for August! Sometimes it’s that simple. 🌻 And as a mom and a teacher, I loved the idea of starting the month of a new school year (and closing out the summer) with a blessing. ❤️

Lots of traveling goes on during the summer, so I thought a design incorporating vintage luggage and paper airplanes could be fun! May we all be willing to go wherever he sends us. ❤️✈️🧳

April showers bring May flowers, so it only makes sense to have a floral design following a raindrop design! Back in the spring, a dear student of mine commissioned a large drawing of this verse for the dorm room she just moved into last month, and I basically based this artwork on that piece. 🌸🌺🌼

With Easter coming in March 2027, I was able to run with an April showers theme for this calendar page! Of course I needed a great verse about rain so I could make this idea work, and I think I found a good one. I happen to have accumulated a nice array of blue markers, so I pulled all the ones that I thought went well together, and I had so much fun playing around with it. The one you see was version 2.0, but I knew this was it when I finished. 🩵💧☔️🌧️
