Join us in celebrating Zachary, the GiddyUP team member recognized for exemplifying all the qualities of the Brave One:
Courage in Growth
This rider:
• attempts the hard thing
• speaks up when unsure

Courage here is not recklessness.
It is staying present in discomfort.

Merry Christmas from all of us at SchoolSeed.
As we celebrate this season of hope, generosity, and togetherness, we pause with deep gratitude for you—our donors, partners, and friends who make our work possible. Because of your belief in children, families, and communities, SchoolSeed continues to be a place where compassion is turned into action and hope is restored in meaningful ways.
This year, your support helped us walk alongside families in need, provide healing and stability through community-rooted programs, and create opportunities that remind children they are seen, valued, and full of promise. None of this happens without your trust and generosity.
May this Christmas season bring you peace, joy, and renewed hope. As we look ahead to the coming year, we are grateful to continue this journey with you—serving together, giving together, and believing together in what is possible when community stands united.
From the entire SchoolSeed team and Board of Directors, Merry Christmas and warmest wishes for a joyful New Year.

November 2025 Service Report & Access Expansion
Because of your continued investment in healing families and children, Kindred Place remains a critical access point for mental health services in our community. We are grateful to share an important service update alongside our November client activity.
Expanding Access to Care
In November, Kindred Place officially began accepting BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, an important step in removing financial barriers for families seeking care. Our clinical and administrative teams are actively working to bring additional private insurance carriers online and will share updates as new approvals are finalized.
Currently accepted payment options include:
Self-Pay
TennCare
BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee
This progress directly reflects your support, allowing us to strengthen our infrastructure while expanding access to care.
November 2025 Client Impact
Despite the growing complexity of needs we are seeing across Memphis, Kindred Place maintained strong service delivery throughout November:
152 active clients served during the month
22 new clients onboarded, reflecting continued demand for services
Over 550 documented therapy encounters, demonstrating the depth and intensity of care being provided to children and families
These numbers represent real people—children processing trauma, parents seeking stability, and families working toward healing. While month-to-month volumes fluctuate, the sustained level of engagement underscores the essential role Kindred Place plays in the community.
Looking Ahead
With insurance access expanding and demand remaining high, your partnership is more important than ever. Every dollar you invest helps ensure families can walk through our doors and receive timely, professional, and compassionate mental health support.
Thank you for standing with Kindred Place and believing in the power of healing, stability, and hope.

Kindred Place Now Accepting TennCare to Expand Access to Mental Health Care
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Kindred Place, a trusted nonprofit counseling and education center located at 2180 Union Avenue, is proud to announce that it is now accepting TennCare, Tennessee’s Medicaid program. This expansion of coverage marks a major step forward in the organization’s mission to make high-quality mental health services accessible to all families, regardless of income or insurance status.
Kindred Place, which is now managed by the SchoolSeed Foundation, continues its long-standing mission of helping families heal and thrive. SchoolSeed, known for its leadership in managing community-based programs that strengthen children and families, assumed management of Kindred Place in 2024 to ensure that its vital counseling and education services continue to serve the Memphis community for generations to come.
For decades, Kindred Place has provided a safe and supportive environment for individuals, couples, and families seeking help with life’s challenges. The organization’s services include trauma-focused therapy, play therapy for children, parenting education, and individual and family counseling. By joining the TennCare network, Kindred Place can now offer these vital services to more residents who rely on Medicaid for their healthcare needs.
“Removing access barriers—financial and otherwise—to these services has always been a key part of our mission,” said Dr. Sharon Griffin, Executive Director of Program Implementation. “Now, we’re able to serve an even larger sector of the city and ensure that families in need can receive the care they deserve.”
Accepting TennCare allows Kindred Place to address a growing community need for affordable behavioral health services. Shelby County continues to experience high rates of mental health challenges among both children and adults, and cost remains one of the biggest obstacles to care. With TennCare now accepted, families and individuals can access counseling at little or no out-of-pocket cost.
Appointments are available Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. Individuals interested in scheduling an intake or confirming TennCare eligibility can call (901) 276-2200 or visit www.kindred-place.org
With this new development—and under the stewardship of SchoolSeed Foundation—Kindred Place reaffirms its commitment to helping families heal, grow, and thrive across the Memphis community.
