Blackberry bushes have a fascinating natural method called tip layering.

When a long, flexible cane bends down and its tip touches moist soil, the buried stem can develop adventitious roots. 🌱 Once these roots become established, a new shoot begins growing upward—while the cane is still connected to the parent plant.

Eventually, the connecting cane can die back or separate, leaving behind a new independent blackberry plant. Over time, this process can happen repeatedly, allowing blackberry bushes to spread and form dense patches. 🌿🌱
