Parents - do you have a teen taking the ACT this Saturday?
If so, show them this video for practical advice!
1) I do not suggest any studying the night before the test. Rest up and prepare physically and mentally. Do something enjoyable and low-key.
2) Friday's focus for all students to eat healthy meals - protein and carbs (especially for dinner).
3) Get a VERY good night's sleep. Ideally, be asleep by 9:30 or 10 pm if possible. Get off your phone by 7:30 and read or watch a movie on TV - not a small screen.
4) On testing day, get up early at 6:30 am and have a good healthy breakfast with protein. You'll be wide awake and ready to focus at 8 am.
5) Print the ACT entrance ticket the day before and put it in the car. Avoid printer issues by having it printed it a few days ahead. Send it to Office Depot or other print shop if you cannot print it at home. Online or bring USB/thumb drive to Office Depot.
6) Charge your calculator! Review the ACT website for approved calculator at least a few days in advance - this is so important! Put it in the car the night before with 3 sharpened pencils and a string backpack or little bag with bottle of water and a granola bar.
7) Let worries go - they'll just take up mental space. You're PREPARED and confident when you take my ACT prep. You got this! I believe in you!

If you need one or two classes before the exam, I have sessions over the next few evenings.

Summer ACT exams (and September ACT) are popular since many seniors apply for college in October for EA (early action) for best changes at admission and scholarships (before the Nov 1st or 15th deadlines most colleges have - check your websites for the universities you're interested in!)

The paid ACT exams are on paper and preferred by many students. The free school-provided ACT exams are usually online format. Many students tell me they prefer the paper exams and score 1 or 2 points higher since they can look back at math notes/calculations they write down and have time to look back in other sections, too. This is a personal preference. There's a reason many students take the ACT & SAT a few times - familiarity gives everyone a confidence boost! (Many universities will also SuperScore - that is a big advantage for admissions and merit scholarships! University of Tennessee and Mississippi State are just two examples). Good luck!

It is an honor to support the VFW Post 5066 scholarship fund! In memory of both of my grandfathers who served in WWII, a portion of every student’s fee is donated. Thank you to all of the families who’ve scheduled ACT prep classes at the VFW in Collierville! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Thank you, Veterans! Today we honor those who fought for our country - we are grateful for their sacrifices and bravery! Both of my grandfathers served in WWII. Steve Bledsoe served in WWII as a US Marine Carrier Pilot in the Pacific Fleet. My grandfather was a strong influence in my life and taught me the value of working hard. I honor both of my grandfathers who served and ALL Veterans today!

College FAFSA tip for Tennessee students:
You must list an eligible in-state college to be considered for state grant aid. The order of schools for your college list will not impact your eligibility for state aid programs. If you update your school choices later, please notify your state agency by changing your institution in the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation Student Portal.
