Newest cytologists in town! We had a 100% board pass rate for our class of 2024, through the American Society of Clinical Pathology, in Cytology! We are so proud of them and wish the best in their careers!

The Pap test has been THE MOST successful cancer screening method in the history of medicine. Thanks to the Pap test, the incidence of cervical cancer has been significantly reduced in the United States and world-wide. The Pap test method was also instrumental in the development of modern cytology, in which collection and analysis methods were created to detect cancer in any part of the human body.
The story of Dr. Helen Dickens and her role in the development of the Pap test program in the African American community is inspiring and deserves to be heard. Growing up, this is something we did not learn during Black History Month!
I am so proud to say the Master of Cytopathology Practice Program (MCP) at UT Health Science Center contributed to the development of this documentary by providing historical photographs from the 1950's, when our program was just beginning. To be a part of a profession that has made a positive impact on women's health makes me full of emotion.

We had a blast meeting all our new students for this fall during orientation last week! Excited for them to begin their first day of classes tomorrow!!
