I give my team permission to rest and to show up fully for their families.
If someone is mentally overloaded, I’ll say:
“Take a break. Reset. We’ll reconnect in an hour.”
If they need to attend a school program, handle a family matter, or care for someone at home, there’s no penalty and no guilt attached. People don’t stop being parents, caregivers, or partners just because they’re professionals. This isn’t about being soft.
It’s about performance and sustainability.
The data supports this approach:
Burnout costs U.S. employers an estimated $190–$200 billion annually in healthcare and lost productivity (Harvard Business Review).
Employees in supportive work cultures are nearly twice as likely to be engaged and significantly more likely to stay (Gallup).
Even short rest periods improve focus, decision-making, and creativity the very capabilities leaders depend on (American Psychological Association, NIH).
Burnout doesn’t create clarity.
Anxiety doesn’t produce better outcomes.
Alignment does.
Scripture reinforces this principle:
“He gives rest to His beloved.” (Psalm 127:2)
From a leadership perspective, rest isn’t weakness and family isn’t a distraction. Both are essential to stewarding people, performance, and purpose well.
Leaders don’t burn out people into excellence.
They build environments where clarity, trust, and results can actually sustain.
Rest is leadership.
Family matters.

Collaboration Is The Key To Change ‼️
As Helen Keller once said, "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much."
Let's rally our community together to create waves of change! Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 emphasizes the importance of collaboration and working together. It states that "Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up."
Our strengths, ideas, and resources as a community can uplift one another and make a lasting difference. We can achieve more than we ever could alone. So, let's unite, collaborate, and work together towards a better future. Together, we can create a positive impact that lasts a lifetime.

Mark your calendars for the upcoming INTEGRIT-E ("integrity") Annual Conference June 17th and 18th at the University of Memphis. This year, we are focusing on "Building The City of Inclusion" which aims to build on the success of last year's conference where over 100 collaborators addressed challenges in the Delta region.
We are pleased to announce that our keynote speaker for this year is Mehrsa Baradaran, a distinguished Professor of Law at the University of California, Irvine and Northwestern University, Chicago. She is renowned for her expertise in banking law, financial inclusion, and racial inequality. Professor Baradaran is the author of several acclaimed works including "How the Other Half Banks", "The Color of Money", and the upcoming "The Quiet Coup", which received the 2019 Best Book Award by the Urban Affairs Association.
We invite you to join us and register for free to be a part of this exciting event focused on driving sustainable, place-based innovation to generate economic wealth for rural and minority communities. By forming robust partnerships, listening attentively, and securing funding, we believe we can overcome these challenges. Last year, teams secured over $2M in grants, and we aim to exceed that in 2024. Don't miss this opportunity to be a part of something impactful!
