Today in Music History: July 12, 1895 - Oscar Hammerstein II is born in New York City. The musical composer and theater director becomes known for his collaborations with Richard Rodgers, including The King and I and The Sound of Music.

Today in Music History: July 6, 1957 - Paul McCartney and John Lennon meet for the first time at the Village Fete in the Liverpool suburb of Woolton, where Lennon's group, the Quarrymen, are performing. When they meet again, Lennon asks McCartney to join his band.

Today in Music History: July 5, 1994 - Hootie & the Blowfish release their debut album Cracked Rear View. It takes off at the beginning of 1995, eventually selling a staggering 21 million copies.

✨What instruments do you play?
🎤Guitar, piano, & voice (and ukulele in the past)

✨How long have you taken lessons?
🎤Guitar - 3 years, voice - 6 years, piano - 3.5 years. I started lessons at Memphis Music Academy approximately 4 years ago.

✨What new skill or technique have you learned in the last several months that you are most proud of?
🎤I have learned so much in the past year, but something that sticks out to me is, in piano especially, I have learned how to play classical music, which requires a raw connection and understanding of the dynamics in the music.

✨When did you begin writing your own music, and what inspired you to write?
🎤I wrote my first song at seven years old. I was inspired by the singers and songwriters on shows such as America's Got Talent.

✨Who would you most like to collaborate with?
🎤Lana Del Rey.

✨Who are your favorite musical artists?
🎤Phoebe Bridgers, Mitski, Taylor Swift, and Lana Del Rey. I am inspired by all of them, but my songwriting is influenced the most by Gracie Abrams.

✨If you could open a show for any artist, who would it be?
🎤Lana Del Rey
