Looking for a wilderness first aid class? Well you have come to the right place! We have classes forming now. We will make sure you are prepared not only for possible first aid emergencies on your trip but also for that check in process at the national camps by having the correct WFA certificate. Did you know that MANY so called wfa providers offering certificates will not be accepted at camps like Philmont? Why? Well that one is easy to answer, because there are many certification agencies providing wfa they are not all held to the same standards. That is why Scouting America only accepts training from ECSI and recently American Red Cross. Here are the details from the Scouting America website.
WFA Certification
Scouting America has identified the following providers as meeting Scouting America’s requirements for WFA training:
American Red Cross, American Red Cross, and Scouting America Training Agreement
Emergency Care & Safety Institute, Emergency Care & Safety Institute and Scouting America Training Agreement
Contact your local council or the high adventure program you will be attending for additional providers.
The ACA does not review or approve courses for Scouting America units. Please get in touch with your local Scouting America council for questions regarding a specific course or a list of approved providers.
WFA courses offered by other providers do not meet Scouting America’s wilderness first aid requirements. If WFA is required for your adventure (see Scouting America facilities’ requirements below), you must obtain a certificate of successful completion. In addition, a current CPR/AED certificate is also needed. If you have specific questions on equivalencies, reach out to the entity running the program requiring WFA.
