As schools across Southern Oregon open their doors for a new year, we want to say something plainly.

This is for every educator walking back in — teacher, bus driver, custodian, office staff, counselor, coach, paraprofessional, administrator. Every single person whose presence shapes what a school feels like to the students inside it.

You are safe. You matter. You belong.

Not as a slogan. Not as a poster on a wall. But as the actual foundation of what SOREN believes about every person who shows up for Southern Oregon's kids.

Here's to a school year that gives something back to the people who give with heart. 💛

Every workshop has a last day. Every cohort eventually disperses. Every summer eventually gives way to September.

But what happens in rooms like the ones SOREN built this summer doesn't end when the session does.

It shows up in the way a first-year teacher introduces themselves to their class for the first time. In the way a principal walks into a hard conversation differently. In the way an educator who almost burned out last year finds something to hold onto heading into this one.

SOREN Summer 2026 is wrapping up, and we couldn't be more proud of every educator who showed up for it.

Here's what SOREN keeps seeing when that kind of investment happens consistently: educators who stay longer, lead more confidently, and create classrooms and school cultures where students genuinely thrive.

Every year, something quite remarkable happens quietly across Southern Oregon.

Thousands of educators walk back into schools, into classrooms, hallways, buses, front offices, and counseling rooms, and choose to show up for the students and communities they serve.

SOREN's mission doesn't change with the calendar. It's the same at the start of a school year as it is at the end of one — to make sure every educator in this region has the support, connection, and professional learning they need to do their best work.

A new year is a good reminder of why that matters. We're glad to be in it alongside you. 🦉

There's a particular kind of energy that arrives in August, part anticipation, part nerves, part genuine excitement about what the year could hold.

If you're feeling all of that at once right now, you're in good company.

What SOREN hopes every educator across Southern Oregon knows heading into this school year is that you're not starting from scratch. You're carrying everything you learned, every relationship you built, and every moment this summer that reminded you why this work matters.

That's a pretty solid foundation. 🌿

From June through August, Southern Oregon educators showed up.

For Teach From Your Best Self. For Rooted Relationships. For Lead From Your Best Self. For the Dignity Summit. And today, for Connect Prepare Launch, three days of preparation and community for the newest teachers joining our region's schools.

SOREN Summer 2026 has been one for the books, and none of it would have been possible without the educators who chose to invest in their own growth this season.

The school year is almost here. And because of the work that happened this summer, more educators are walking into it grounded, connected, and ready.

Monday, school leaders from across Southern Oregon gathered for Rooted Relationships, a once-a-year experience designed for the people who shape culture and conditions in our schools.

Principals. Counselors. Instructional coaches. District administrators. People who spend most of their energy holding everyone else up, taking a day to invest in themselves and each other.

What happens in a room like that doesn't stay in the room. It travels back into every school these leaders walk into on the first day of the year.

That's what SOREN and Belong Partners make possible. And we're grateful for every leader who showed up. 💛

Connect Prepare Launch is a three-day experience starting August 17th, built specifically for novice teachers who want to walk into their first classroom ready, not just hopeful. Facilitated by Jenni Jones and team, you'll leave with practical tools, meaningful connections, and a community of peers who are figuring out the same things you are.

Because nobody should have to start their teaching career alone. 🫶🏻
