LETS ALL TAKE THE TIME TO HELP OUR FRIENDS IN Juniata County, Pennsylvania

Governor Wolf mandated that all students and staff wear masks as of September 7, 2021. Juniata County School Board has decided to allow students to not wear a mask (regardless of vaccination status) with nothing more than a parent's signature. Furthermore, they are not requiring students to quarantine after close exposure. Meanwhile, children are affected by Covid-19 currently more than any other time throughout the pandemic. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that all children mask for in-person learning. The school board's decision is endangering children and staff members, as well as their families and the whole community. This is gross negligence and nothing but political pandering. Reverse this decision now and keep kids safe!

As COVID-19 cases are rising, Republicans are rushing back to Harrisburg to overturn Governor Wolf's mask requirements for children in classrooms.

Let’s be very clear -- they are not coming back to raise the minimum wage or pass COVID-19 relief for small businesses. They are coming to Harrisburg to score political points that will inevitably put students, communities, and teachers at risk.

Jeremy Freeland, Supervisor of Transportation & school safety at answered the following questions on the issue of masks and bussing transportation.


1. Are schools enforcing that students are wearing masks as they board the buses in the afternoon?

Yes, schools are enforcing the mask requirement.

2. Are the bus drivers expected to do any type of enforcement?

Bus drivers reinforce the expectation, but are not expected to police the situation.

3. Do bus drivers have a supply of masks in the event that a student does not have one?

Yes, we provide masks to students who need them as they board the bus.

4. Are there assigned seats on the buses?

Yes, though the drivers are still in the process of making seating assignments. Due to the staggered start of the first week, not all students are riding the bus each day.

5. If seating is not assigned, how are close contacts determined on the bus?

While seating charts are helpful in identifying close contacts, we strongly rely on bus videos to determine who, exactly, qualify as close contacts.

6. Who is monitoring the data of which students are in non-compliance?

When students are non-compliant, school administration is notified.

7. What are the consequences for non-compliance with the mask mandate?

This is dependent on the interventions from administrators. Consequences for noncompliant students will be relayed to the parents of the noncompliant student.
