And just like that, our first week of Rooted & Rising is in the books! 🌿📚

What a fun first week at Rooted & Rising! We’ve loved seeing our students jump into learning, making new friends, and getting comfortable in their groups.

This week included coloring tote bags, math games, outdoor scavenger hunts, read-alouds, science experiments, memory work, and so much more! 📚🔬🎨➕🔎

There have definitely been a few first-week learning curves along the way, but we are so thankful for our students, teachers, and families who have jumped in and made this first week so special. ❤️

We’re excited to see what the rest of the year holds!

One week down…so many more adventures to go! 🌱✨

School starts TUESDAY! 🌱📚

Our teachers have been busy preparing, planning, learning, and getting everything ready to welcome our Rooted & Rising students for our very first day!

There has been so much work happening behind the scenes, and we are incredibly thankful for this amazing team of teachers who have poured so much into preparing for the year ahead.

We can’t wait to see our students Tuesday morning and officially begin our first year of Rooted & Rising! 💛

Here’s to a year of learning, growing, building friendships, and being rooted in Christ together. 🌿

🌿Meet Our Team 🌿

As we wrap up our Meet Our Team series, we’d love to introduce one more very important member of the Rooted & Rising team!

Many of you may recognize Kari as one of our Rooted & Rising parents this year, but she also serves behind the scenes as our Board President, Website Designer, and Program Support Specialist. From helping shape our vision to designing our website and providing ongoing support and encouragement, Kari continues to play an invaluable role in Rooted & Rising.

Kari began homeschooling 16 years ago after feeling deeply called to be home with her children, teaching them about Jesus and pouring into their hearts and lives. She has always viewed homeschooling as both a privilege and a calling…even on the hard days.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and has spent the past 13 years serving women and families as a Certified Birth Doula and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). In 2022, she founded Journey Well LLC, where she walks alongside families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and adoption journeys. It has been her joy to support countless families during these sacred seasons, including several adoptions right here in Central Kansas.

Kari has always been passionate about building community. Over the years, she has started and led homeschool groups, served on a homeschool co-op board, and helped create spaces where both moms and children can grow and thrive together. More recently, she helped launch Gather Moms in McPherson to encourage women in every season of motherhood.

We are so grateful for Kari’s heart for serving families, her passion for Christian education, and the many ways she continues to invest in Rooted & Rising. We are blessed to have her on our team and look forward to having your family get to know her throughout the year! ❤️

🌿 Meet Our Team 🌿

We’re wrapping up our Meet the Team series with Jerilyn, our Director of Operations & Finance!

As Director of Operations & Finance, Jerilyn helps keep Rooted & Rising running smoothly by overseeing communication, organization, finances, and the many details that make our school day possible. You’ll also see her around campus during the week, supporting teachers, connecting with families, and helping create the warm, welcoming community that makes Rooted & Rising special.

As a homeschooling mom of four for the past eight years, Jerilyn understands the joys and challenges families face as they seek an education that fits their children. She is passionate about encouraging parents and creating an environment where students and families can thrive.

Jerilyn brings nearly two decades of experience in leadership, administration, and finance. She has served on her church’s Children’s Ministry Team and on the boards of three nonprofit organizations, including roles as Board Chair and Treasurer.

She has also taught social sciences at a Christian high school and helped lead a homeschool co-op in Michigan, where she developed a passion for supporting families, creating strong systems, and building meaningful learning communities.

Jerilyn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Ministry with a focus on families, and we are so thankful for the experience, wisdom, and care she brings to our team!

🌿 Meet Our Team 🌿

You’ve officially met our amazing teachers and now it’s time to meet the directors! First up is Abby Hinman.

Hi! I’m Abby, and I serve as the Director of Academics at Rooted & Rising Hybrid.

In this role, I oversee our elementary program, support our teachers, and help develop curriculum and learning experiences that are engaging, intentional, and rooted in our mission. You’ll also see me around campus throughout the week supporting classrooms, connecting with students, and helping create a place where families feel known and supported.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction. Before staying home with my own children, I spent five years teaching 5th grade at a Christian school, presented at teacher conferences, and served as an adjunct professor preparing future teachers at Central Christian College.

For the past four years, I’ve been homeschooling my four children and have loved building learning communities through both a homeschool co-op and a nature school.

Helping launch Rooted & Rising has been the fulfillment of a dream I’ve held for many years. It is such a joy to partner with families and create a place where children are known, challenged, and inspired to love learning. I’m so excited for all that this year has in store!

🌿 Meet Our Team 🌿

Next, we’re excited to introduce Stacey Kaufman, who will be serving as an elementary Teacher’s Aide at Rooted & Rising Hybrid this year! We are so thankful to have her on our team and can’t wait for our students and families to get to know her.

Stacey was born in Massachusetts and moved to Kansas in 2007 to marry her amazing husband and best friend, Jordan. Together they have two fun, adventurous, and kindhearted boys who bring so much joy to their family. Of all the roles she’s held over the years, Stacey says her favorite is being a mom and homeschooling her children. She considers it a tremendous blessing from the Lord to raise and disciple her boys at home.

When she’s not teaching or homeschooling, Stacey enjoys gardening (especially barefoot! 😊), camping with her family, spending time near big bodies of water, sewing, cooking, and growing closer to the Lord each day while bringing her children along for the journey.

We’re so thankful Stacey is part of the Rooted & Rising Hybrid family and look forward to the encouragement, care, and joy she’ll bring to our students this year!
