After a lot of conversations between the two of us, Tina and I have decided it’s time for Civic Sound-Off to hang up the microphone. 🎙️
This isn’t because anything happened or because we’ve lost our passion for our community. Life is simply taking both of us in different directions. Tina is busy building her business and pursuing things that are important to her, and I have some personal goals and things I’ve wanted to accomplish for a long time that deserve my attention now, too.
When we started Civic Sound-Off, we really didn’t know where it would go. We just knew we wanted to give people a place to have real conversations, ask real questions, and hopefully help people become a little more informed about what was happening in our community and beyond.
Along the way, we have been blessed to meet some truly amazing people, and several of those people we now get to call friends. That alone made this little adventure worth it.
Were we taken seriously by everyone? Absolutely not. And that’s okay. But nearly half a million views tells us something. People ARE paying attention. People ARE hungry for information, truth, education, and conversations that go a little deeper than a Facebook post or a campaign talking point.
To every single person who took the time to sit down across from us, answer our questions, share your story, explain your position, laugh with us, teach us something, or simply have a real conversation - thank you. You gave our viewers an opportunity to see the person behind the title, business, organization, or name on the ballot. We will always appreciate that.
And to those who never really saw the value in what we were trying to do, maybe someday you will. We were never professional journalists, and we never pretended to be. We were two women from Western North Carolina with microphones, questions, and a genuine desire to help people become more informed.
I will leave this part here because I still believe it strongly: if you are asking people to trust you with their vote, you should be willing to sit down with the people you want to represent. No script. No carefully prepared talking points. No questions handed to you ahead of time. Just a real conversation. Voters deserve that.
Thank you to everyone who watched, shared, commented, encouraged us, challenged us and supported Civic Sound-Off. We have truly enjoyed our time here with you.
For now, the microphones are going quiet. ❤️
But I have a feeling neither one of us is finished making a little noise in our own way.
With gratitude and sincere hearts,
Christy & Tina
