MHS Art Club

MHS Art Club The McDonald Art Club is open to all MHS students in grades 7-12. Our goal is to promote the arts in our community.

We focus on Volunteer work and raising funds to provide new art supplies for hte classroom. Each year the art club gives a $300.00 scholarship to a qualifying senior.

Yayoi Kusama passed away from multiple organ failure at a hospital in Tokyo on Aug. 14, 2026. She was 97.

The renowned Japanese avant-garde artist was best known for her signature polka dots, pumpkin sculptures and quirky, brightly coloured art installations.

A statement made on her museum’s official Instagram page said that she “continued to paint until her final days, never setting aside her brush and remained steadfast in her lifelong belief that love can save the world”.

This week we celebrated 4 student female artists who had artwork selected into the 17 under 17 show at the youngstown YWCA celebration of women artists. Congratulations to Baylee Bosheff, Riley Mills, Greenleigh Sedoris and Naomi Sheesley for having their artwork selected. A Special Congratulations to Baylee for receiving a $100 award for her pencil drawing, Lion!

We were also excited to have Mrs L’Heureux’s work along side them in the adult show!
