Vanessa is a 20-year veteran of the singing industry. Her journey began with humble beginnings in a small church worship team, and joining the high school choir during her junior and senior years. She went on to pursue a music degree at UTRGV and began to participate in a young adult worship team. Vanessa was given the position to lead a team of college musicians and held worship outreaches on campus. Her passion for worship began to grow as she met other like-minded believers. During her college years, she opened up her voice studio with just a few students and worked diligently to grow her vocal techniques. An opportunity was presented to launch a music school with Marcos Witt Instituto CanZion in Mission Texas, as well as sing with Christian artists as their background vocal. Such artists include Crystal Lewis, Yuri, Torre Fuerte, Jesus Adrian Romero, and Marcos Witt. Vanessa was able to direct a vocal group of five young Christian female artists. She was also able to write out their harmonies while growing their vocal development. This led to improving their studio recordings and church concerts. After her college years, Vanessa worked as a middle school head choir director for three years, also assisting at the high school level. She followed this by working at the elementary level for McAllen ISD for twelve years where she discovered musicals with her students. Singing, acting, dancing, and costumes were the highlight of these years. All the while, continuing to instruct vocal students in growing their vocal gifts and talents. For many years, her studio was located in Melharts Music Center in McAllen, where she networked with local restaurants and coffee shops to organize recitals and student performances. Vanessa also spent several years growing her knowledge and vocal abilities with James Wigginton, a Nashville Vocal Coach. She also began to study the Singing Sucess Systemic Vocal Method with Brett Manning; all while serving for about 13 years on her church worship team. During the church years, she spent three years pioneering and launching a church campus, as well as developing worship teams. This became a bigger passion as workshops were presented to the team members to grow their musical abilities and knowledge. She continues to teach and present workshops to the vocalists in the RGV today. Nowadays, Vanesa has graduated with a master's in School Counseling, and uses several theoretical approaches to conquer mental blocks with her vocal students. She believes that what we think about our voice can hinder our performance, as well as limit our potential. Techniques and mental strategies are used to overcome these vocal challenges. Today, Vanessa continues to give workshops to church vocalists and to personally grow as a worship singer, presenter, and vocal coach.
