Then email me your personal email address and final plan- What College, What Trade School, What Branch of Military and if enlisted yet, or What Job. Please include any admission letters/emails, scholarship letters/emails, proof of attendance/enrollment.
Now is the time to start applying for trade schools, cosmetology schools, jobs, and the military.
If you want to go to college you must:
1: Apply on the college website
2: Pay application fee if there is one. (email me for waiver codes for UCA and UALR)
3: Parent and Student must complete FAFSA (ALL colleges require this)- see instructions below for creating an FSA ID
4: Apply for the Arkansas Challenge Scholarship on sams.adhe.edu. This is for Arkansas Residents attending an Arkansas College. Make an account (instructions below) then make sure you hit the blue Apply for Scholarships button. Most college based scholarships will not apply to you until you have applied for the Challenge Scholarship.
5: Check your emails for next steps- colleges are sending you information daily! Check your spam and inboxes to make sure you are completing all forms and responsibilities:
- Registration- make an advising appointment to schedule classes
- Housing- if you are living on campus- might need deposit
- Orientation- most require in person orientation and offer multiple dates in the summer. Make sure you register on time.
- Confirming Scholarships- most colleges and SAMS (sams.adhe.edu) make you accept your scholarships. Log into your accounts and accept these scholarships so you don't miss out. Once the deadline has passed, you cannot receive that money. The Arkansas Challenge Scholarship is sending out emails for confirmation already. Check that you have accepted it ASAP!
6: Email me or Mrs Goodwin for transcript/records requests. We do not know where to send them if you do not communicate with us. Please let us know what colleges need your transcripts/records by May 8th.
Other Reminders-
- If you plan to go to college, you have to apply and be accepted. Some of you have said you plan to go to college, but the colleges you have listed have no record of you applying.
- Most Scholarship applications are past due or coming up soon. Apply now!
- If you plan to play on a college team, please get confirmation from coaches as soon as possible. Most athletic scholarships/signings are happening this month. If you haven't heard anything officially (gotten an email or letter), I cannot count it in your scholarships/future plans.
- Getting an offer is not the same as getting accepted into the college. You must still apply like a normal student.
