🎉🌟 EAST Initiative Night Out = HUGE SUCCESS! 🌟🎉

Our students knocked it out of the park once again with an incredible setup and awards ceremony! 🏆👏

Thank you to everyone who came out to support this special event—it meant a lot to our students! 💙 Families enjoyed the Mayflower Middle School art display 🎨 and even got to vote for their favorite pictures and dioramas.

We also had some awesome community involvement! 🙌 Wildlife Matters and B & B Engineered L**e Systems were on-site with booths, including a petting zoo that was a big hit! 🐐🐓

A huge THANK YOU to Amanda Carter, Morgan Seymore, and our Technology Department for all of their hard work in making this night possible! 💻✨

🔥🏆 HISTORY MADE! 🏆🔥

The Mayflower High School Clay Crushers made school history by competing in their first-ever sanctioned trap shoot! 🎯

Students traveled to Jacksonville to take on the big stage at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Sports Shooting Complex. The team enjoyed some beautiful weather ☀️ and, while they didn’t quite hit the overall score they were aiming for, they gained valuable experience and became familiar with the range where they’ll compete in the upcoming regional tournament. 💪

On the evening of March 17th, one of the most fiercely competitive games of Monopoly went down inside a Hot Springs hotel lobby🎲🔥

Your Mayflower High School EAST Initiative EASTcon student group sparked a showdown so intense it echoed the days when gangsters rolled into Hot Springs to test their luck at high-stakes tables. With 9 players all vying to become the grand “Champion” of EASTcon monopoly, the dice started rolling—and the deals started flying 💼💰

Savannah “The Dealmaker” Toombs worked to build her real estate empire, teaming up with the infamous Jessica “Jackpot” Jerrolds. Chloe “Free Parking” Gray snagged the first community cash and confidently declared, “I’m really good at this game.” 😄

Meanwhile, Kaebra “The Iron” Gentry and Joshua “The Wheeler and Dealer” Acosta battled it out for control of Marvin Gardens and the Short Line Railroad 🚂. Eli “The Baron” Whitaker jumped out to an early lead after locking down both Boardwalk and Park Place 🏨. Not to be outdone, Dawson “Investment Broker” Stolzer kept a sharp eye on his portfolio, making strategic moves to avoid costly buyouts 📈

But after nearly FOUR HOURS of intense gameplay… there could only be one champion 👑

Anna “Moneybags” Medley used her COVID-era Monopoly experience to take over the board and secure the win in dominating fashion 💪

These students had an absolute blast, and even Parker Brothers would’ve been impressed with their grit, determination, and competitive spirit!

Do You Want to Build a Birdhouse? 🐦🪺

Mayflower High School EAST student Brent Johnson has been hard at work in the EAST Initiative classroom over the past few weeks building prototype birdhouses that may soon be placed around the City of Mayflower, Arkansas neighborhood and community!

The goal of this project is to help promote bird habitat while also giving students the opportunity to conduct real scientific research and data collection. Once the project is proposed and approved, EAST students hope to mount trail cameras near the birdhouses to scientifically study:

📊 Bird movement
🪺 Nesting success rates
🦉 Predation activity

Brent was eager to put the building blueprints he discovered into action and get the first prototypes built!

A big thank you to Mayflower Agricultural Education & FFA teacher Ms. Seymore for helping oversee the process and allowing students to use the Agri shop to cut boards to the proper length.

Projects like this show how EAST students are using hands-on skills, research, and community partnerships to make a real impact!

🎨🔥 Huge shoutout to Mayflower High School student Carter Loy! 🔥🎨

Carter put his expert painting skills to work by customizing a table for the EAST Initiative conference booth, and it looks AMAZING! His talent and attention to detail are helping bring our vision to life for this year’s conference.

What’s even better? The students representing Mayflower have rallied a plethora of other talented EAST students to jump in and help with booth creation. That teamwork, creativity, and school pride is what Mayflower Middle School EAST is all about! 💙🦅

We are so proud of the leadership and collaboration happening behind the scenes.

Mayflower EAST Initiative meets Uta Meyer from the Little Rock Arkansas Audubon Society! 🐦🌿

Students were excited to welcome Uta to the classroom to share her knowledge on all things birds! Mayflower High School and Mayflower Middle School EAST students learned about building bird nesting boxes, providing natural food sources, improving habitat, and how these elements can be thoughtfully integrated into their campus nature trail project.

Uta also introduced students to a variety of native bird species that call Mayflower home, helping them better understand the importance of conservation and stewardship of local wildlife.

A huge THANK YOU to Uta for investing her time, expertise, and passion into our students and for answering their many questions about outdoor conservation and how they can play a role in protecting it. Students look forward to implementing nature into Science, Math, and Art classrooms soon!💚🐦
