When Perfect Holds You Back: Breaking ADHD Perfectionism | Julie Kliers ADHD Coach 10/24/2025

Have you ever rewritten an email for the fifteenth time… or kept tweaking a project because it never felt quite “good enough”?

That’s ADHD perfectionism — and it’s exhausting.

So many of us with ADHD push ourselves to over-deliver, believing that if we could just “get it right,” maybe we’d finally feel confident and capable. But what starts as caring deeply can spiral into overthinking, self-doubt, and overwhelm.

Here’s the truth:
Perfectionism isn’t about high standards — it’s about fear of not being enough.

And breaking free isn’t about lowering your bar. It’s about freeing your energy so you can actually use your gifts — the creativity, intuition, and brilliance that make you you.

In my latest blog, I share 5 simple shifts to help you stop overthinking, start taking action, and finally feel that proud, capable momentum you’ve been craving.

Let’s start celebrating “done” over “perfect.” Because progress — not perfection — is where confidence truly grows.

As an ADHD coach, I understand how challenging it can be to overcome clutter. This is true for many people with ADHD, including myself. 🙂

One of the biggest obstacles I have faced, and frequently see in my clients, is the habit of leaving important items out in the open as a way to remind ourselves to stay focused on them. The need to keep things visible is often felt by those with ADHD because our easily distracted brains struggle with memory. 🧠

Many of us experience a cluttered environment filled with unfinished projects and scattered papers. The struggle to maintain tidiness causes unnecessary stress. However, there is a way forward!
