Whether you're framing a house, machining a precision part, welding a project, installing HVAC systems, repairing vehicles, or working in agriculture, one thing is always true:

At NIACC Ag & Skilled Trades, our students learn that accuracy, precision, and attention to detail are the foundation of every successful career. Every inch matters—and it all starts with knowing how to measure.

We've been watching diligently out our building window at this progress - it's been an AMAZING transformation!

As I turned the corner onto campus this morning, I was greeted by a rainbow that looked like it ended right at the NIACC Farm.

It got me thinking… people say there’s a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow, but I’d argue the real jackpot is found right here.

At the NIACC Farm, students gain hands-on experience, build skills for in-demand careers, and prepare for futures in agriculture and beyond. The opportunities, knowledge, and connections they find here are worth far more than gold.

Some mornings, Mother Nature gives us a pretty good reminder of that. 🌈🚜🌱

During the last academic year, students in NIACC Skilled Trades programs—including both NIACC students and high school students earning college credit through concurrent enrollment—earned an incredible 1,414 industry-recognized certifications from NC3 - National Coalition of Certification Centers!

That's a lot of certifications!

Each certification represents valuable skills learned, hands-on experience gained, and another step toward a successful future. From welding and diesel to HVAC, automation, building trades, and automotive, these students are gaining the knowledge and credentials employers are looking for.

We're proud of every student who put in the work to earn these certifications and grateful for the faculty and industry partners who help make it possible.

A common concern we hear is, “I’m not a teacher.”

In reality, if you’ve trained new hires, guided someone through troubleshooting, or explained why a system wasn’t operating as expected, you’ve been teaching. No prior teaching experience is required. What matters most is your industry knowledge, and we provide support as you learn the instructional side of the role.
