During the first week of school, the children participated in a variety of open-ended and teacher-directed activities in an “All About Me” theme, designed to support self-expression, classroom adjustment, fine-motor development, early writing, and cognitive development. Across the work samples, the children demonstrated a willingness to engage with different materials and activities, including crayons/markers, drawing, collage materials, and photographs.

Adopt a Dinosaur

During our “Adopt a Dinosaur” activity, the children used their thumbprints to create their very own dinosaurs. They enjoyed watching their thumbprints transform into unique dinosaur characters as they added details and personalities to their creations. Each child was then able to choose and “adopt” their favorite dinosaur. To make the experience even more special, the teachers provided adoption certificates for the children to take home with their new dinosaur friends. This hands-on activity encouraged creativity, observation, and imaginative play while making the children feel like they were truly bringing their favorite dinosaur home.

The children became enthusiastic young palaeontologists during our Jurassic Park-inspired dinosaur investigation. They explored a large dinosaur-themed environment, using their imaginations as they climbed into a DIY Jeep ready for a prehistoric expedition. Sitting together in the Jeep, the children used magnifying glasses to carefully search for fossils and examined the ground for clues about the dinosaurs that may have lived there.

The children also used binoculars to observe the huge dinosaurs from a safe distance, demonstrating curiosity and excitement as they watched the animals from afar. They communicated with one another, shared equipment and discussed what they could see, showing developing language, cooperation and problem-solving skills.

This experience supported the children’s observation, investigation and critical-thinking skills. Their use of magnifying glasses and binoculars encouraged them to look closely, compare what they discovered and ask questions about the prehistoric world. The DIY Jeep provided opportunities for imaginative and collaborative play, allowing the children to create their own dinosaur adventure.

Not even the rain could stop us! 🌧️😂 We still came out, had a GREAT time, and made some amazing memories together.

Huge shoutout to all of our families who came through, all of our vendors, and everyone who showed love and supported us. We truly appreciate every single one of you! ❤️
