Congratulations to our new McDowell Middle Schools Jr. Tri-M Music Honor Society members! Last night was a joy to collaborate with the McDowell High School Tri-M Chapter 4917 and the MHS Thespian Honor Society for our annual Fine Arts Night to celebrate new inductees for the 2024-2025 school year.

On Monday, March 11th the McDowell Middle Schools Jr. Tri-M Music Honor Society & MHS Tri-M Officers spoke on behalf of all of the music programs in McDowell County in celebration of Music in Our Schools Month. Below is a direct quote from student officer, Aerick Combs, Jr. Tri-M Treasurer:

“This month we are advocating that each elementary, middle school, and high school of this county have the equal opportunity to learn music in some fashion. Consistent music programs will benefit more areas than just one, for example, our social-emotional learning, daily attendance, communication skills, critical thinking skills, and even impact our test scores.”

A huge thanks to music educators, students, and parents from Glenwood Elementary, Eastfield Global Magnet School, West Marion Elementary, East McDowell Middle School, and McDowell High School for making this presentation a success!

Beginning as a Chapter of 9 students, last night we had the privilege of inducting 32 students into the McDowell Middle Schools Junior Tri-M Music Honor Society! These musically gifted, intelligent students have taken this honor society above and beyond. The EMMS/WMMS Tri-M Officers did a wonderful job conducting the ceremony, and a special thanks to the McDowell High School Tri-M Chapter for hosting us at the MHS Auditorium.

The sky is the limit for these outstanding students, and they are just getting started!
