Kim Yoder’s Pre-K class at Cottondale Elementary started the week strong with ABC patterns while reviewing the letter “W”. Then, they learned about how ice freezes and melts. They got to be creative with paint ice cubes. The kids learned how to “fix” or put a flashlight together with batteries the correct way for it to turn on. Then they got to make shape shadows! Lots of learning FUN going on over there!!

Happy Bus Driver’s Appreciation Day from the faculty, staff, and administration at ECC!

Attention parents‼️‼️‼️

All Jackson County Schools (Florida) will be closed tomorrow, Friday, April 17th, to allow for a thorough spring cleaning of campuses and buses as we work to reduce the spread of illness. The health and safety of our students and staff remain our top priority, and this precautionary step will help ensure a safe learning environment for everyone.
Twelve-month employees will report to work as scheduled to assist with this process. All extracurricular activities will continue tomorrow as scheduled.
Parents, we truly need your support to help keep our schools healthy. Please monitor your child closely for any symptoms of illness, including nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, or diarrhea. If your child or any household member is experiencing symptoms, please keep them home. Keeping sick children at home is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of illness in our schools.
Students and staff should be symptom-free for at least 24 hours before returning to school or work. By working together, we can help protect the well-being of all students and staff.
By taking these three days, we hope to give everyone time to fully recover from sickness before school on Monday. We look forward to seeing everyone back on campus Monday morning.

Health Update‼️‼️‼️

The Early Childhood Program has been made aware of a stomach virus currently affecting students and staff across our district. While cases are more concentrated at one school, the district is beginning to see some cases at other sites as well.

As always, the health and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority.

We are taking extra precautions at the Early Childhood Center and in our outlying classrooms, including increased cleaning and disinfecting of high-touch surfaces and encouraging frequent handwashing and the use of child-friendly hand sanitizer.

Please help us by keeping an eye out for symptoms such as:
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Stomach pain
• Diarrhea

If your child is experiencing any symptoms, please keep them home. Students should return to school only after being symptom-free for at least 24 hours.

Working together, we can help keep our school community safe and healthy. Thank you for your continued support—we truly appreciate our ECP families!

Mrs. McCalister baked her class Brown E’s today for April Fools’ Day, the kids were so confused and thought it was hilarious. They were grateful to eat chocolate chip cookies afterwards.
