Twenty-nine Marengo students traveled to compete in the annual Quad County Soil Judging Contest in rural What Cheer, joining students from several area schools to put their soil evaluation skills to the test.

After the contest, students toured the production facilities at Fireside Winery, where they learned about the niche market of viticulture, or grape and vine production, and the many careers connected to the industry. ๐Ÿ‡

It was a great day of putting classroom knowledge into practice, exploring agriculture beyond the traditional farm, and learning about new opportunities in the industry!

Great job, Marengo FFA! ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ‘

For 17 years, the Marengo FFA Watermelon Feed has been one of our favorite fall traditions.

Usually, weโ€™re outside enjoying a crisp fall afternoon, but with all the rain weโ€™ve had this year, we moved the fun indoors for the first time in forever! ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿ‰

๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›A huge thank-you to Beckโ€™s Hybrids for sponsoring this activity and helping us keep this tradition going strong!

After learning about the different areas within the horticulture industry, our Principles of Horticulture students got to see one of those areas in action: olericulture, the production of vegetables! ๐ŸŒฑ

We took a field trip to Fields of Faith in rural Oxford. Fields of Faith is operated by Iowa Valley alumni, Jeff and Missy Disterhoft. Their nonprofit farm grows fresh produce to donate to local churches, food pantries, and community organizations.

We are thankful to Jeff for sharing their story with us! What a great example of agriculture growing more than just food! ๐ŸŒฑ

Iowa Valley Agriculture at the Farm Progress Show!

This past week, 43 Iowa Valley students traveled to Boone for the Farm Progress Show. Students saw agriculture in action through equipment demonstrations, new technology, crop varieties, and science and innovation shaping the future of agriculture.

After the trip, one student shared, โ€œThis field trip gave me a better awareness of the agricultural industry impact and the businesses that support it.โ€ Students gained a greater understanding of the impact agriculture has on the Midwest, the United States, and the world. ๐ŸŒŽ

A special thank you to the Iowa County Farm Bureau for supporting this experience by purchasing our student tickets! We appreciate your investment in our students and agricultural education! ๐ŸŒฑ
