SOMa Bike Bus

WEDNESDAY. Dad rock edition. The kids should just be grateful we didn’t break out Phish. We’re not middle-aged we swear, we’re just stuck in the nineties!

TUESDAY. We listened to our kids favorite Disney songs today! What an incredibly gorgeous week for our kids to wrap up their school year.

MONDAY done! Three more days of school and three more bike busses left! The week is off to a great start. Shoutout Jess for the sick beats.

We’re gonna miss our fifth graders but we know they are going to have the skills and confidence to ride into middle school! This was ’s BIGGEST bike bus yet with 75 kids and 145 total riders. Only two weeks of school left!

It’s up to all of us to create the community we want our kids to grow up in. In the bike bus we make that happen every Friday morning. Shoutout to who we ran into who’s running for Essex County Commissioner!

In the bike bus community we empower our kids with skills and confidence. It’s not just about riding to school. It’s about showing them what community looks like, and showing them how strong they are.

We asked and the community delivered. Our second annual SOMa bike swap was a massive success with 75 kids finding new rides to school. We would have been happy with just one. Thanks to everyone who donated and showed up — this is what makes our SOMa community so special. We’re looking out for one another and working to make our community a better place.

We had our first beautiful Bike Bus morning in a while, and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get some vitamin D on this sunny January morning. Here’s two minutes of what bike bus is like - just kids having fun, laughing, saying hi to their friends and neighbors. Bike bus is simple - take a routine chore of getting to school and make it so much fun that your kids can’t say no. Even in the winter.

My daughter had the GoPro on her last ride and hearing her have fun, chat with her pal, and sing Chappell Roan melted me. These kids love the bike bus so damn much. It's the highlight of our week.

We're not just building community, but setting our kids expectations for what community can be. I'm optimistic for the bike bus generation.
