Our life together started in the usual ways - late nights, worry, drool, diapers, pacifiers and a ton of cuteness and sweetness.

❤️ What I came to realize about you as you grew up is that you are anything but ordinary. You are a fierce, beloved and loyal friend, a curious soul, a self advocate, you care deeply about others - particularly children - and you are absolutely the funniest person I’ve ever met. You manifest what you want for yourself (see pic) and you hold the mirror up to others because you are a truth warrior. How can it be that you’re only 17?❤️

✨The world, your world, is about to get very big, and I hope that you swallow it whole ✨ and I love you to a million pieces.

💥 Spending the morning getting my syllabus together for my Creative Thinking class this semester 💥

I wanted to share the note I wrote to my students about the use of AI to support their learning. See below the ***

❓ Prof friends: how are you addressing this with your students this semester?

✨ I am so sick of the slop.
✨ Hoping to ignite a revolution this semester. Dear lord we need it.
✨ Show me your very human and very interesting mess kids!

Note about the use of AI: I am not a fan of AI as a resource for this course. I use it all the time to help me with recipes and to produce unoriginal content like quick emails to clients.

This course is about human creative potential, not efficiency or perfection. I would rather see something in it’s roughest form that came from your original thought, than a polished AI generated final presentation. Please keep this in mind as you navigate your mid terms and final projects for this class.

I am curious about the ideas that originate and flow from you. I am disinterested in what the robots have to say. They are ruining us. But you, you have the capacity to change the world. Let me learn how you want to do that this semester.

🍕Not sure if you can read what this memory says, but this was my gratitude post to (formerly Arturo’s) for their EXCEPTIONALLY generous gift of a free pizza upon the completion of my first draft of my novel 🍕

Long story short, I was on the struggle bus to finish and so I told myself that when I finished the draft, I’d treat my family to Arturo’s.

❤️ I posted my goal and gift on the gram, tagged Arturo’s, and they told me told me it was on the house if I finished.

Five years ago today, the promise of delicious pizza got me over the finish line, and the rest is relative history. ❤️

✨What wasn’t lost on me, and the reason I’m posting today, is that I spent this morning at working on developmental edits for what I hope is my second to last draft of the same novel. ✨

This novel is my big goal for the year. It’s the only thing I’m dedicating my “extra” time to. It’s loomed larger than life for more than five years, and as you might imagine, a lot has changed since then. This book is great, and it’s getting ripe and is almost ready to be plucked. A little more tilling of the soil, and then she’s off to market.

📚Moral of this story, writing books takes a stupid long time and the whole process is made far more palatable if you can eat 📚

See ya again next week and I always say yes to bread products when writing❤️
